Another #ThirstyThursday post for people who like such things. The rest of you, scroll quickly by. Paul got a harness but it was a bit big on him so he gave it to me and honestly might be a bit big for me too? I should get properly fitted for a new one some day at a shop or show.

From a purely design standpoint there’s a beauty an alien-ness I love. But I think the aesthetic is at the expense of story function. I think the shapeable matter and transporting everywhere have similar issues.

They’re very “what if Apple designed starships” unfortunately
jonwesleyhuff.bsky.social
Oh interesting I guess that can solve it! I think I was stuck in the old algorithm way of thinking where that might be “bad” for posts. Because they aren’t posts I dislike just posts I am tired of seeing again and again lol.

When I look at these ships, I can’t immediately imagine it’s full of a whole federation crew going about their business. In my head they are just pretty, but formless voids floating in space. At least with Athena we’ll spend time exploring the ship so that won’t be a problem.

The starship designs of the 31st Century in Discovery and now Academy just do nothing for me. I liked the DISC refit, but the rest look like floating abstract sculptures. I appreciate the thought behind the design evolution but find it unconvincing from a storytelling standpoint. #StarTrek

I sort of wish there was a "Yes, I've seen this popular repost and I don't want to see it again, thank you" button on here.

I am the biggest Tron fan but it's nearly $300 after their shipping surcharge. I just can't bring myself to do that.

As someone who has wanted a Vicky Vale figure since he first saw Batman at 10, this is some real monkey's-paw-be-careful-what-you-wish-for shit.
A blonde figure in a bright blue dress and huge camera that's apparently supposed to be Vicky Vale.

I was just being sad that my copy of Rocky Horror 4K won't be here until a week after it came out because I ordered with a small indie retailer. But would would do it again. And then it made me think of how things used to take 4-6 WEEKS to arrive. Imagine.

I'll always try out some new Vertigo titles. I feel a bit disconnected from comics. Even the indie titles I've tried have been resolutely "okay" lately. I'm trying to think of something that's really excited me lately. I'm sure I'm just missing stuff.

I'm thinking about those! They look so amazing. But I have all the Super7 ones, as well as the NECA reissues of the REMCO. AND DST's 7" so I'm like... do I need these TOO? The answer will probably be yes. Just thinking. lol.

Fantastic, bizarre album. Cover of 'Twist in My Sobriety' with hip hop beats & rapped 'It's Liza with a "Z" not Lisa with an "S"' bit; Shakespeare sonnets recited over trancey beats; gorgeous orchestral versions of 'Rent' & 'Tonight is Forever'

Oh I’m excited to watch this version!

My friend and I were chatting about how excited we are for @realgdt.bsky.social’s Frankenstein and I articulated this thought and, you know, I just liked it and wanted to share it here. I imagine others have made the comparison before. But it was new to my brain and they’re both art heroes of mine
GDT is like this generation's Jim Henson. I mean, Henson is still an inspiration, but you know what I mean. GDT and his artistry are commenting on the moment still.
He's a one-person creation engine surrounded by networks of incredibly talented individuals that inspire in ways that feel inherently out of the mainstream and yet is on the more palatable edge of the off-center? If that makes any sense.

I'm not sure how I'll look in the blue wig, but I'm game for roleplay.

I realize they are ducking the likenesses, but going full paige-boy / Prince Adam haircut on Bob was a choice.
