I learned in 5th grade in 1966 it means “apologize or else”. I learned the hard way.
I said it to an NT person and she didn’t apologize. Because I can’t express subtext and she had never had to deal with bullies.

She wasn’t talking about science. She was talking about how people talk.

I cannot DO nuance.
I cannot SEE subtext.

Nor can any autistic person I know in real life.

See how straightforward that was? She was objecting to THAT. There’s SUPPOSED to be a hidden underlying message I’m spose to see.
