Bad post-chemo recovery day, but Aleya is adorable. And muddy. Oh my god so much mud.

Everything I eat since Sunday morning has tasted like cardboard, including bottled water.

We got cold cuts but forgot rolls, so it’s time to break glass in case of emergency. Or, rather, open book!

We don’t have lard, but I remembered I have bacon grease, so I’m trying that instead of butter. It’s currently softening to room temp. Progress report after I catch my breath snd ret lunch!

What are #crochet frogs made of?

A little blep and a lot of adorableness!

Hey #UglyDogs! It’s time to celebrate with one (two!) of our own.

Want to know the best way to celebrate?
💗22 years today - my how time flies. We’re really putting that “for better or worse, in sickness and heath” bit to the test lately 🥰

Bonus #crochet and #knitting tip (or anything that uses an electronic pattern).

If the pattern has multiple columns, zoom in to see only one. Scroll so your current working line is at the top. Keep scrolling as you work each line.

This prevents so much confusion!

Random #crochet tip!

Having trouble getting your hook into a tight loop? Use a needle.

Here, I have to crochet the next stitches in the BLO (back loop only). Since I already crocheted FLO (feont loop only), the stitches are super tight.

Have you all seen this, #UglyDogs? What a gorgeous pupper!
A very good boy! 🐾🐕😍

An amazing c. 3,400 year-old ancient Egyptian dog carved from ivory. This leaping dog opens and closes its mouth as if barking by using a lever below its chest.

Kind of a rough night here. I needed my anti-nausea meds, and Cal needed the big migraine meds. Going to try for early sleep.

I didn’t get the Avastin today - only the two regular chemo infusions - so I expected to be feeling better. Oops?
I’m feeling good - energetic, even - but we got home a little while ago, and all I want to do is watch baking competitions and maybe nap for a few hours.

Also, my port hurts. It stings where the needle went in and aches everywhere else.
I’m getting my last pre-surgery chemo, and the doc stopped by to talk and look at my incisions. The incision isn’t infected (the slight discharge is normal) but the great news is my bloodwork two days ago showed ALMOST NORMAL NUMBERS!

News! The chemo is working great and my numbers are improving, so my surgery is tentatively set for Dec 15, ten days after my birthday. I’m looking at an extended stay in the hospital (without dogs, woe!) and a long recovery at home.

My very f’d up aunt from the very f’d up side of my family told me, when I wasn’t even yet a teen, I HAD to forgive her, or the misdeeds she’d committed would instead become mine.

She was so incredibly wrong.

I haven’t forgiven any of them.
💯 As I say in my book, not only is it a trauma fact that one can heal wo forgiving, but Jewish law doesn’t require the harmed party to forgive their harmdoer— ded if they don’t do EVERY step of repentance

& if the harm is trauma-level, as I read the sources, there’s no obligation, even if they do.
Today’s concept of “forgiveness” is pushed on survivors of SA, DV, or other abuse as the only way to “move on” and heal from their trauma. This is nothing but patriarchal garbage. You can survive and thrive without “forgiving” those who have caused you trauma.

Spotted at Rock Creek Park.

Al this little pair needs is a flaming cyber truck at their feet and another one - not yet ablaze - in the distance, pointed out by the rider as their next target.

I forgot to post this, but look what @ravenmae.bsky.social made! It’s a magnetic-closure locket with one of Aleya’s baby teeth, a magical unicorn gift from Kieran, and a little knot of Bucky’s fur I pulled off a fleece jacket in my closet. ❤️

Anyone familiar with making a mold and cast buttons for clothing?

I want to make multiple copies of a metal button, embossed with a centaur archer, about 1.5” diameter with a loop attachment on the back.

Looking for specific product recommendations for the mold and replica material.
