No war, no fossil fuels, no billionaires.
We already have ICE detention facilities. We don’t even need to change the name
Look if there's one thing this country can handle without much trouble, it's 20,000 more people in prison

The manner in which he’s trying to do it is not working. For decades Democrats have been on the receiving end of vicious contempt from the entire Republican establishment, and still he’s sniveling after his “colleagues” for compromise. He should be denouncing them for refusing to do their duty
if you want the Senate to do something, Senate Republicans must do something.

People are dunking on this but I'm not really sure what plays Schumer has other than to try to peel off Rs.
Schumer: "Republicans must -- if there was ever a time, they must step up to the plate. This is the time. And if they don't, they're gonna feel the heat from their constituents."

They did it because they’re fascist, and fascism is a psychology as much as an ideology, and that psychology calls for aggressive warfare
Yeah, if there's one thing I wish I could press into the brains of every leftist commenting on this it's that "the US did this because it needs their oil" is a bad analysis in the structural incentives of the 2020s. Trump personally just thinks "blood for oil" sounds cool.
its incredible to read how the regime has to do a hard sell on the oil companies for this. president grandpas 1989 brain does it again. oil is 50 dollars a barrel and the infrastructure is degraded and the situation completely confused and politically volatile. oil ceos not exactly excited. amazing

The reason Sarah Palin didn’t understand what was meant by the “Bush Doctrine” wasn’t just because she was stupid. It’s because the term was a media creation, an ideological retcon to justify the unconstrained use of American military force.
January 4, 2026 at 6:02 PM
All the money spent on the military and this is what it gets us. A tactically brilliant operation that kills innocent people, breaks US and international laws, destabilizes a region, and doesn’t accrue to the material benefit of any regular American
Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.

There’s no honor in following illegal orders. You don’t deserve the “thank you for your service.” You aren’t protecting our freedoms, you’re undermining them

Always pathetically begging for support from their “Republican colleagues”, never condemning them for refusing to act
Asked about the possibility of impeachment, Schumer says "we hope that we can have support from our Republican colleagues to put a brake on this long before it gets that far"

Sounds Iike the Nobel Peace Prize winner declaring a civil war
Here's a statement from Venezuelan opposition leader and recent Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado, in it's original Spanish and with an English translation (machine translation).

Set bail at $100. No deference owed to an executive that is openly contemptuous of the other branches of government
Like, a jury trial? With the Fourth and Sixth amendments in effect?

Yale Law School should probably just close up shop
Vance pushes back and says this was not illegal, arguing "Maduro has multiple indictments in the United States for narcoterrorism. You don't get to avoid justice for drug trafficking in the United States because you live in a palace in Caracas."
January 3, 2026 at 3:44 PM
If this is all domestic US law enforcement then Maduro is still the President of Venezuela and entitled to the presumption of innocence.

Kavanaugh systematically poring through his “law books,” trying to find one that isn’t colored in
Kavanaugh goes out of his way to pen a footnote not having to deal with the case at hand.

He appears to be trying to narrow the forces he unleashed with his prior opinion allowing for race- and ethnicity-based #KavanaughStops

DOJ independence is a load-bearing norm for US democracy and it really sucks the media can’t/won’t communicate it
Breaking News: Pam Bondi assigned a prosecutor to look into Jeffrey Epstein’s ties to prominent Democrats including Bill Clinton, at President Trump’s urging.

Who broke the brand?! In 2008 the brand was Barack Obama, who was the most progressive-coded dem presidential nominee of the last 50 years
Li'l scoop at Semafor: A new report endorsed by Biden's former campaign manager, former DCCC chair Cheri Bustos, and other centrist Dems blames the party's broken brand on post-2012 left-wing language and ideas - not just "the groups" but adopted by whole party www.semafor.com/article/10/2...
Left-wing ideas have wrecked Democrats’ brand, new report warns
The center-left group Welcome relied on polling of hundreds of thousands of voters over six months for its findings, shared first with Semafor.
