Taken a couple of days to digest what was really poor United performance against Derby on Saturday. All 3 goals against of our own making – messing about at the back that led to their corner for the 1st, a terrible back-pass for the 2nd, totally avoidable penalty for the 3rd. V worrying #bskyblades

Extremely timely new research that reinforces the call for targeted prostate cancer screening for high-risk groups. Congrats to Prof Ros Eeles and the rest of the IMPACT study team at ICR
Men with BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations should get annual #ProstateCancer screening.

The IMPACT trial finds BRCA1 carriers are 3 times more likely to have aggressive prostate cancers than non-carriers.

Results from the international trial shared at @myesmo.bsky.social

Yesterday was quite a busy day! Great to be in Parliament to launch our new report on targeted screening for groups at high risk of prostate cancer, looking at how this could be put into place. You can read the new report here: www.prostate-cancer-research.org.uk/screening-re...
Yesterday, we were delighted to host an event in Parliament attended by over 100 MPs and Peers to launch our new report, ‘Prostate Cancer Screening: The Impact on the NHS'.

Great to speak to the guys at The Pinch, who have been supporters of this safe standing campaign from its early days. This has taken up a large chunk of my spare time in recent years, with plenty of setbacks along the way, and delighted that this is at last this week fully installed at Bramall Lane.
Ahead of safe standing’s debut on Saturday, David & Sam from @thepinch.uk invited me on to chat about the background to the campaign and how it developed to be brought in.

Saw this for the first time yesterday evening – delighted to see it finally installed and ready for Saturday’s game. 3,000 at the back of the Kop able to stand at Bramall Lane for the first time since 1991. A team effort between this campaign at the club’s Fan Advisory Board to get it over the line
Great to chat to fans that braved the rain to drop by the Kop this evening. Well done to @sufc-fab.bsky.social for adding the extra session.

All ready for Saturday’s game, the away section complete too. If you’re a STH looking to move in from other stands, email [email protected]

Hoping this is some sort of 4 dimensional thinking here that nobody is seeing, but Sellés dropping our best creator in Hamer, best striker in Campbell, and hand extra responsibility of the captaincy to Peck who has already struggled with the increased focus of his role this season, feels v odd.

Really important piece of research out that shows that biparametric MRI could offer a viable alternative to mpMRI in the diagnostic pathway for prostate cancer – faster, cheaper, and potentially better for patient experience too. Really important for considerations on potential screening programmes

Editorial: The PRIME trial establishes biparametric MRI as a viable alternative to multiparametric MRI for prostate cancer diagnosis, offering reduced time, cost, and invasiveness.

+ves:
– Tanganga looks excellent. He’ll need to be if we keep playing like this
– Bindon looks improved as a result of above
– still in it

-ves:
– not sure any area is working
– Peck for most of half isolated deep, Hamer isolated elsewhere
– left side defensively horrible

Disappointed that Kieffer Moore’s time with us didn’t really go as planned. I’d have been fine with him staying, but most United fans can’t forgive his contribution to the playoff final loss. Given his age and the system Sellés is likely to play, this deal makes sense for all parties #bskyblades

For 2 years, 2 govts used a secret court to hide the truth: they put 100,000 Afghans at risk of death. They used constitutionally unprecedented methods to prevent reporting.
My reflections on two years on this story and why it must ever happen again.

The government put 100,000 Afghans at risk of death. Then used the force of law in a constitutionally unprecedented way to prevent anyone finding out.

Jess Fishlock is the oldest goalscorer in Euros history.

She's also Wales' youngest ever goalscorer at a major tournament.

Unlucky half for Wales, but still a great moment for Jess Fishlock for the equaliser.

Nervy start, poor on France’s goal, but Wales recovered well, grew in confidence, and bright on the break. Brilliant ball by Gemma Evans to set Holland free for the goal.

David Suzuki has been a force of nature in advocating for sustainability, nature and climate action for many decades, so this is a pretty stark interview from someone so prominent on these topics. Essentially says climate resilience now the key focus needed.

Think the Wilder sacking is a real mix of harsh and yet understandable, tho I’d have been fine with him starting next season. The football for a lot of last season wasn’t great, and I felt we ended it not knowing the best XI nor what the style of play was. Both were so clear over 2016-20 #bskyblades

I’ve been to Wembley with United in 1993, 1997, 2009, 2012, and 2023. I was abroad for the goal-fest vs Hull in 2015, so the only time I have seen us score at Wembley was on that very first visit.

At the v least today, I want to have seen someone other than Alan Cork score for us there #bskyblades

A lovely evening in the sun at Bramall Lane for the 2nd leg. I expected Wilder to make a couple of changes, but surprised to see Peck starting tonight on a booking. Feels slightly risky with Davies now fit to not just switch them.

Same attitude as last Thursday needed tonight #bskyblades

9 playoffs. 0 promotions. 1 relegation.

That record has to change at some point, but can’t given that record go into this evening’s game with any expectation it will this time round.

We’re at least going into these playoffs with a near fully fit squad. Fancy Moore to start this eve #bskyblades

Bit of a forgettable game all in all, but thought Callum O’Hare again made a great case to start in the next two – we don’t have anyone that presses like he does, and a few lovely bits of play in that 2nd half. Thought Souza & Peck were decent, and a lively sub appearance for Brewster #bskyblades

It’s today 100 years since United’s last Wembley win in the 1925 FA Cup final vs Cardiff.

And in looking at the coverage at the time, I cannot unsee the absolutely-not-terrifying ‘lucky mascot’ in these old images.

Thought it was a much better performance from United yesterday, had we played like that vs any of Oxford, Millwall, Plymouth this last month we might be heading to a more interesting last 2 games.

Still worryingly feels like we struggle to affect a game when we switch 3+ in a 2nd half #bskyblades

Flat performance so far – easy to say in retrospect, but I was really surprised we didn’t make any changes from the weekend. We’re struggling to carve out decent chances, and seem to be relying on trying to fashion a penalty from set-pieces. More width needed here + move Hamer centrally #bskyblades

Super result for Wales Women in Sweden, really brave performance. It’s a brilliant finish by Hannah Cain from Rachel Rose’s through ball. Some really good moments for Safia Patel to keep the scores level.
