I do 1 all the time + some tortellini. Scoop extra sauce from the chicken parm on top of tortellini and serve

There’s a reason UAF IN SQDs have an entire team devoted to air defense

Anyone remember in like 2019 or so some Australian General giving a speech and going the question is not tanks or armor but both?
January 27, 2026 at 3:26 PM
Now granted it might still be mostly a second island chain formation to provide reinforcing fires/a back stop/shield behind which the joint force can prepare to penetrate the WEZ/FIC based off of what the USMC/SOF is relaying from inside the WEZ but…IMO still useful
January 26, 2026 at 5:36 PM
I think the MTDFs - interestingly enough originally developed for INDOPACOM and then…questionably IMO expanded elsewhere… in some way were also an attempt to bridge that gap. Hey we’re gonna push all this stuff down to a BDE level formation so it’s more mobile sustainable in the AOR.
January 26, 2026 at 5:36 PM
Yeah I think one of the things we’re gonna see on the Army side is an increasing diversity between I Corps (INDOPACOM aligned) and III Corps (EUCOM) not just of what combined arms are needed but how you combine them and who controls them.
January 26, 2026 at 5:36 PM
might only be 10k dudes - just dudes so niche and important that only corps or higher can employ them (as currently structured)
January 26, 2026 at 4:54 PM
Yes they’re still employed in standard company, battalion, and brigade and but permissions are held above that.

Which supposes a permanent dialectic problem of the Army might say we need Corps permission or need the Corps - sparking thoughts of multiple leg divisions, but in reality 3/x
January 26, 2026 at 4:54 PM
However even I Corps has subtly, but basically said our most valuable asset to the joint force is sustainment (don’t yell at me - I know these are all contentious), LRPF, intel, deep recon, and ADA. These are Corps, army or even theater assets to cost and exquisiteness. 2/x
January 26, 2026 at 4:54 PM
Something I am curious about (general comment that above discussion reminded me of - not an attack) is the diversity of echelons at which the same capability might be held.

For example, I Corps is aligned to the Pacific. It like most Corps has four divisions with a total 9 maneuver brigades 1/x

Insane. And so quietly too. Really thought there was a possibility Syria was just awkwardly divided for like a decade

Aka it’s all just various tactical or strategic levels ala @bafriedman.bsky.social
January 18, 2026 at 7:09 PM
If we’re giving more capability to units and forcing them to fight up an echelon in time/space management…does this portend a slow death of the “operational level” war as BCTs/DIVs (tactical units) increasingly do “operational level” stuff (think out 72 hrs/100k+) and it all just becomes tactical?

MASH is one of the greatest shows ever made. It centers a group of highly skilled people who are scared to be there, who hate the war that is happening there, and who will do their damnedest to help every single person they can for so long as they're suck there.
i cannot tell you how often i think back to MASH when writing. that ability to walk the line between humor and the darkest of humanity, yet never truly cross over into making light of it OR hopelessness--even though it toys with those things, too--is the line i strive for

I don’t know quite how to describe the feeling of seeing Bellingcat announce their starting an investigation into the shooting
Using imagery online of the shooting by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, we’ve created an animated sequence which highlights the approximate positioning of officers and vehicles at the scene. The red dot represents the agent who fired the shots. Yellow dots are other agents who arrived at the scene.
