I agree we shouldn't make fun of any specific person's looks, but I do think it is worth noticing and analyzing the fact that any woman who wants to be embraced in MAGA world has to shape, mold, inject, and compress herself into an extremely narrow caricature of femininity.

A cynical person might wonder whether this would have happened if the Finch LRT launch wasn’t going so badly.
Our streetcars are getting a boost! Council just voted to speed up our LRTs and streetcars with changes to signal priority, left-turn restrictions, and more. I'm looking forward to the City Manager's plan to improve streetcar speed and reliability early next year -- on Line 6 and elsewhere! 👏

I have the same feeling about this that I do about calling Trump a "fat-ass" or a "big Cheeto". All it does is diminish us and lend credibility to the right's assertion that diversity and inclusion are just leftie political gamesmanship, not truly held ideals.

I love watching right wingers large run full speed into all the same tropes and traps they pinned on the left in 2015, the foremost of which is, "Online is not the real world." Bari Weiss has only ever been a thing for the aggressively online. She was never ready for prime time.

I struggle to understand why people get furious about politicians who cross the floor, and I realized it’s because I don’t really see the distinction between parties a lot of people do. What a party says it stands for changes once it’s in power, so I don’t care much the colour of people’s ties.

For the record, I went to La Cubana instead for a pressed sandwich, tostones, and their incredible raspberry lime rickey.
I like Badiali. I would love it if there could be great businesses like Badiali in every Toronto neighbourhood. At the same time, lining up outside in the cold for pizza is silly. It’s a big city, have something else for lunch. Everything doesn’t have to be a special event.

It’s a bit of a black mark on the media writ large that Chrystia Freeland didn’t have to answer more tough questions about her devotion to the victims of communism memorial. It so clearly had “doth protest too much” energy.

Using Constitutionally accepted practices is neither “shady” nor “undemocratic”. We elect people, not parties, and every attempt to redefine that relationship and ban floor-crossing has failed. And that’s GOOD!
I will say that I find it very shady and mildly undemocratic that the Liberals are trying to obtain a majority they weren’t elected on through floor crossings
