The world's a bit of a mess, the weather's shit and it's Monday. And now you're telling me that the GB curling team had a shocker in the semi-final against the Swedes to miss out on gold or silver? COME ON GUYS WE NEEDED YOU.

I see the speed-skating is on now. Sure, lots of skill, determination and fitness required. Can't take that away from them. But don't let that distract you from the fact that they look completely ridiculous.

The snowboarding events are brilliant to watch- but good lord the jokes from the BBC commentators are absolutely dreadful.

It's bleak, folks. ☔
Rain has now fallen in Reading for 25 consecutive days - the longest spell of rainfall ever recorded at our Atmospheric Observatory.

Dr Stephen Burt, said: “With further rainfall expected, the spell of consecutive days of rain may stretch to an entire month.”

Very pleased to share #OpenAccess paper, which we think is important to understand woodland bird declines and impact of forestry on native ancient woodland in Britain.

There is not one thing better on this planet, than the first EVENING blackbird song of the year, just as the sun is dipping down below the horizon.

For the first time EVER, it feels like January has gone in a flash. Must be the effect of having a baby under 3 months.

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

Death toll in Afghanistan when NATO answered the US’s call:
- 453 Britons
- 158 Canadians
- 89 French
- 59 Germans
- 53 Italians
- 44 Danes
- 17 Spaniards
“Stayed a little back, off the front lines “!
No one in the media will call him out over this lie or any of the others he spouts.
Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

It's a real testament to the band that an album whose themes and commentary were so definitive of that point in time, can still sound so beautifully fresh 20 years later.

People dislike Robert Jenrick because he's a fascist who openly and loudly talks about how much he wants to do fascist things if he ever gets the power to do so, or, if you're the BBC's lead fascist massager Laura Kuenssberg

I don't really know the context, but I feel like there wasn't much for Caspar Ruud to gain by playing that exhibition match with Federer. He either wins and everyone says 'Ah, surprise surprise, current pro beats 44-year old retired bloke', or he loses and it's a bit embarrassing.

The bus: "Please stay seated until the bus comes to a stop".

Also the bus: Has about three stop buttons on the entire top deck which are impossible to reach unless you stand up.

Sainsbury's sell 'well fired' loaves that look just like this. Suspicious.
A loaf of #Roman bread, which was being baked in an oven in #Pompeii when Vesuvius erupted in AD 79; it was carbonised by the disaster & left in the oven until being excavated nearly 1800 years later 🏺 #AncientBlueSky
