I by some amazing coincidence finished playing Gunparade March (two playthroughs, including the true ending) on the exact 25th anniversary of its release.
Absolutely incredible piece of art. The last time I played something with this level of lore depth was the Nier series.

Today (9/28) is the 25th anniversary of the PS1 tactics sim "Gunparade March"! It's a cult classic known for its freedom. The only objective is to survive until a certain in-game day so you can play any way you like: bond with realistic NPCs, become an ace, collect socks, etc...

Whoa, The Legendary Axe fan art from snakepixel! Not expecting that. It's true - enemy designs from old games have an unhinged "spark" and I love seeing a skilled redraw.

This convo I had highlights the difference in what "respect your time" means in games.
A lot of players want to trade time for in-game progress. It's purely transactional: 1 hour = 1 progress
But I want to feel like my actions matter i.e. what I do with time creates progress, not time itself.

I just beat this for the first time today! It’s quickly become a new unexpected favorite of mine in the PS1 library. Love the puzzles, short length, and overall pleasant vibes from start to finish.
Here's my third day of posting a game from my collection every day.
Today's game is Neorude for the PS1.
This one is half RPG, and half point-and-click adventure game. The "Leading RPG" that it's boasting on the cover there refers to the player leading the characters around using a cursor.

I just beat this for the first time today! It’s quickly become a new unexpected favorite of mine in the PS1 library. Love the puzzles, short length, and overall pleasant vibes from start to finish.

Had a good time playing through Salamander III with @jpengine.bsky.social earlier. There’s not a ton of variety in the stages and it feels a bit “safe” overall but it looks and sounds great and the intensity is pretty nuts. Just wish they’d have let their hair down a bit more. 7.5? 8.0? Good stuff
