The 2009 tiebreaker game all over again for the Detroit Tigers.

Holy buckets, replay does not overturn an obvious foul ball.

It's a home-run derby to determine the winner after the 12th right?

I still cannot believe the Rockies never once got Freeland in a game that series.

How dare you! That game ruled!

... says the interested party who followed the team who played the winner.

(You do not gotta bunt with a player who has one career sacrifice)

Not counting Wild Card games, this is the first winner-take-all postseason game to go 12 innings since Game 7 of the 1924 World Series.

Walter Johnson, after throwing four scoreless innings out of the bullpen, was the winning pitcher in that one.

Runner up for the Heisman and the name absolutely helped!

Can you imagine if someone named Colt Keith were a college quarterback? He'd win the Heisman before even throwing a pass.

I am just dying to use the "Arozarena Fall League" pun again and it never materializes.

😬 thinking about Sister Jean tho

Completely forgot the Tigers ALSO won Game 5 of the DS, ALSO by a 3-2 count.

(don't know why I said walk when I meant single, but whatever. And the stolen base!)

And the last grace note -- attending the NLCS and catching Tigers-Rangers on the TV inside the stadium. My wife, a Detroit native, was obviously pulling for the Tigers to win. We were so close to Brewers-Tigers in the World Series. Woulda maybe ruined my marriage? But worth it? Maybe we try again?

So many tiny moments contributed to one of the greatest games in Brewers history. And now we get to do it all over again. Except a late sub into the game for the Brewers in 2011 is now managing the other guys.

Nyjer not only got the game winning single against J.J. Putz in the 10th, but also made the bold move to tag and score from third on a foul pop down the third base line with the fielder's back to the infield in the 4th. K-Rod struck out Paul Goldschmidt with a runner at 3B and one out in the 8th.

Felt it all day in pit of my stomach. The Brewers hadn't won a playoff series in my adult life, and I was SURE they were going to completely blow it. Justin Upton homered early to give the D-Backs the lead. I was convinced (of course) that it was over. I was relieved not to be there. Until the end.

And if we're being really honest ... I was too stressed to go to Game 5 at that point in my life. I had been there with my wife (6 months pregnant with our first child) to see Game 1 and Game 2. The Brewers had gone up 2-0 and gotten blown out the next two games. I couldn't do it.

I had tickets to the game, but I didn't go. I kept my commitment to cover a massive Arrowhead-Waukesha West football game that night. Joe Schobert carried the Wolverines to a narrow win, and I was the most useless I've ever been covering an event, obsessed with a different sporting event entirely.

SO MANY little things stick out. John Axford surrendered the lead but stopped the bleeding by escaping the 9th and pitching a scoreless 10th. Jerry Hairston ALMOST became the hero. Yuni B's base hit and narrow inning-ending play at 2B. Carlos Gómez walking in his first AB in the 10th...
