NEW VIDEO! On the 60th anniversary of Sam Cooke’s tragic passing, I take a look at Spike Lee’s epic 1992 joint Malcolm X, Cooke’s iconic song "A Change is Gonna Come", and the impact the song's inclusion had on societal, film, and music history.

Decided to take advantage of the Flash Sale for the Criterion Collection. A lot of films that I love, one new watch for research purposes, and a pre-order that I couldn't help but cop because man... @realgdt.bsky.social's Nightmare Alley is too enticing to pass up. I HAVE to see that B&W version.
Think we'll get a Trainwreckords on The Life of a Showgirl @shadowtodd.bsky.social?
I feel so out of the loop -- what happened?
A film to surpass Magnolia.
It was very emotional seeing a blending of cities work as well as it does. El Paso typically only shows up in films about cartels and gang bangers, and seeing it in such a hot topic film, it was beautiful. Like 50% of the film was downtown, and seeing one of my favs capture my town with his eye? ❤️
Got to see Kevin Smith today at the El Paso Film Festival today, and was BLESSED by Lloyd Kaufman of Troma! Ran into the latter twice and he told a dad joke to my fiancé.

What a night. What a town.
It's one that I've dreamt of readapting for the longest time. Especially since when I made my dollar baby, my hometown underwent a similar situation as in those last few pages. It gave me a clearer understanding, and still haunts me to no end.
Man, the money they lost from the cancellation earlier is only gonna lead to EVEN MORE cancellations to cope.

I'm going Friday. Taking in a film festival in my hometown to meet Kevin Smith on Thursday, then with my day off the next day, I'm going to treat myself to a steak and watch it since it was filmed in my hometown and my aunt-in-law met PTA during shooting.
Ooof, 2lazy2try is gonna be eating good for this.
On that, that sets me at ease. Licorice Pizza I appreciate more than i lot it, and I REALLY didn't like it.
My hottake with A Simple Plan?

Not only Raimi's best (and most mature film), but I think it does Fargo (the movie) better than Fargo!
Guys, Gwen and Jen are good people. Not only have they been friends and moreso for a LONG TIME, but they are both genuinely talented and lovely people, and they deserve to be able to try to live their best lives imaginable. Please donate. Help them live how they're meant to.
Okay, so.... I did the thing. I started a GoFundMe for Jen and I. I feel very upset with myself for it getting this far. I know it's a lot, but the smallest donation (or even share) helps a ton.

Thank you for the help. I mean it.

Having heard a bit of it... this is something really fun and special. And I really think it'll stay in your head for years to come.
I'm trying to be a little more secretive on what my new film project is, though, at least until we have the crowdfund campaign ready to launch....

But..... it's coming.... it's a pitch I'm really proud of.
Oh my God LAWRENCE GORDON, THE DOCTOR??
ABSOLUTELY DO. I'm telling you right now, if you like how he looks? The WHOLE MOVIE has that aesthetic.
That's exactly how I felt last year watching Rashomon, Sunset Blvd., The Apartment, and Rear Window for the first time! Absolutely lovely to see what my idols loved about those films and how they shaped movies and shows that I loved growing up! Even Gone with the Wind was inspiring... albeit dated.
Drop some BIKES 🏍🛵🚲🖤
This is my favorite film of the year, and while it was edged out by a really stacked couple of months of bigger movies, the fact its on digital means EVERYONE can watch it!

Do yourself a favor and check it out! It's absolutely beautiful!
Your world will get bigger and brighter. THE LIFE OF CHUCK. From the hearts and souls of Mike Flanagan and Stephen King.

Watch now on Amazon Video, Apple TV / iTunes, Fandango at Home, Google/YouTube Movies, and more.
NEW VIDEO! I'm horrifically late, but I still wanted to do my favorite and least favorite first time watches of last year. This is a different type of video than I usually do, but I wanted to experiment with ranking videos and top 10 lists. Lemme know what you think!

Also, she has the gall to say that the Bible doesn't say anything about immigrants or about genders... BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THERE ARE VERSES IN THE BIBLE ABOUT IMMIGRANTS. I found out about that during No Kings Day in my hometown!
