Extremely smart people can fall for any old nonsense when it's outside their area. Look at all the people who've bought into transphobic attacks on science - they're not dumb they just see sources they think are trustworthy saying stuff and assume those people did their homework.

First six months on here I used to check Clearsky out of curiosity about what it tracked. I think the last time I checked it was a couple months ago to laugh at the ridiculous lists I got put on that only one person subs to (The list maker) and it's just the same dude with a new account every month.

Dr. Fauci may be gone, but in his place at NIAID sits Jeffrey Taubenberger, a longtime Fauci ally who conducted the kind of reckless gain-of-function research Kennedy was sent to stop. Taubenberger led work to resurrect the 1918 Spanish flu virus and splice its genes with modern H1N1 strains—research that epitomizes the dangerous hubris of a scientific establishment more interested in what it can do than whether it should. That someone with this record not only remains employed but also holds a leadership position at NIAID underscores just how incremental the progress made thus far has been.

That's the way a lot of straight white guys think of the world — they think that it requires an active hatred on your part to be prejudiced, bigoted or to be a participant in white supremacy. The notion is that if you're not actively doing something to oppress somebody, then you're not part of the problem. As opposed to quietly enjoying all of the privilege that's been bestowed on you by generations of this dominance.
That was the fundamental failure of my perception. It's been a process of enlightenment for me to realize and accept that my very status as a white guy in America is the product of institutional prejudices, that I've enjoyed the benefits of them, passively and actively. And I'm responsible for accepting my role in the patriarchy, and in white supremacy, and in the subjugation and abuse of minorities of all kinds.

Oh man, I remember playing the SNES remakes years ago I found on emulation, this new HD remakes are awesome. I'm replaying Star Ocean 2 and the only complaint I got? No Exp boosts, the grind is the only thing I hate. I learn about so many cool games from your articles.
