If Mamdani wins I will leave New York. I will go live in one of the other 5 houses I have, perhaps the one in South Florida, or the one in Paris, or Napa, or Cabo, but I will definitely leave New York. I will keep my apartment, though, because it's awesome and New York is great. But I will leave.

This news is so awful! Lex and the other politics writers at Teen Vogue have been killing it for years.

This feels like someone is leaning on Condé Nast or that Advance Publications, Inc. is complicit in silencing journalists reporting the truth.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

As for your second point about disabled people, not all disabilities are equal and they're on a spectrum.

Disabilities having to do with the central nervous system can absolutely inhibit a person's ability to cook. Disabilities like fibro, ME/CFS, or long covid can make it dangerous when brain fog

I didn't say that the majority were "working poor," and that would be factually incorrect. I said that the overworked, elderly, and disabled make up the majority. People working multiple jobs and/or highly physical jobs on top of raising kids can easily lack the energy to cook.

I mean, you can hate the explanation all you want, but that's how the law and international treaties work.

This isn't a movie where an overseas team of elite operatives come and kidnap people so they can face justice.

For now, we have to document and hope that they get justice in the future.

New York City is the wealthiest city in the world but that also means a ton of inequality. Even maginal gains for the poorest in the city will have a huge impact not just on them, but on the economic power of the city as a whole.

That's very different from populist fascism.
