The #1 piece of advice that TransLink's CEO offers other North American transit agencies:

Provide frequent service
The people demanding equivalent-to-US tax cuts are also very insistent that Canada should not have equivalent-to-US budget deficits, but no one ever likes to ask them about this contradiction.

The funny thing about Singapore is that between the autocratic state-capacity technocracy, the free-trading Hanseatic city-stateness, and the government having built owner-occupied housing on a massive scale, it’s like a blank screen where a lot of the political spectrum can project its fantasies.
British neoliberalism of the 70s and 80s was obsessed with Singapore, a technocratic autocracy of free trade and deregulation. Of course that would evolve to Dubai, an even more autocratic technocracy with even freer trade and no safety net beyond indentured migrant servants for the very rich
it's weird to me how much Gulf states seem to dominate the imagination of the UK right at the moment. I assume it's largely about who's giving them money, but I also think "Dubai expat" is a common social type in their circles.

This week's article for @thetransferflow.bsky.social is on Crystal Palace. They've been rolling in 2025 so I wrote about their success, including:
- Bend but don't break mid-block
- Speed attacks
- Shifting PL tactical meta + Glasner's coaching scalability

Unique style setting up Crystal Palace for sustained success
Their table position is no fluke, and Oliver Glasner's stock is soaring.

Damn. Was hoping we’d see the light and I could move somewhere I had fewer bathrooms to clean.
Is there a really high demand for 2 full bathrooms from most families? I ask because one way a lot of Japanese flats seem to maximize space is having one bathroom, but the toilet and shower/bath are actually separate rooms so both can be used simultaneously. Is that just not sellable here?
If you were on payroll there should have been mandatory pension contributions off each paycheque, so yes?
Anyone done a deep dive on Ryan Mason’s WBA yet?
This going to sound snarkier than I mean it to, but you’re trying substitute one result last year that wasn’t on him for the entire 25-year period and where we were when he started.

I understand context and longer-term perspectives are tricky for new fans.
Levy stepping back leaves one achievement of his tenure clear. Under him, Tottenham Hotspur were the only club in the English pyramid to organically grow themselves into the group of elite clubs. Everyone else required an oligarch/petro state to ride a helicopter to the peak. He actually climbed it.
Yeah, it’s irrationally annoying to me. We didn’t have a problem calling Lamela Coco, so why not do the same this time?
Standing here at Fallowfield station for 20 minutes with only two 75s showing up in that time, both packed to the point no one could get on. After spending 2 and a half weeks in Japan, Ottawa public transit fills me with such rage.
I think this is because of how the debate is framed. The “buses should be free” case seems to premise 1980s-style American public transit as normal. The “fares are ok” side want European/East Asian quality (aka fast, frequent, reliable), and argue that service quality is a better use of tax $.
At that price, that’s a pretty dumb approach
You know, a good Spurs beat reporter would be asking Frank and Lange pretty pointedly what the point of Tel was if they’re not going to use him.

We’re about to get Willian’d.
I know. The Korean government is definitely not perfectly stable, but I can guarantee that whatever government is formed, if the chaebols say they want it, it’ll get done. And there is an upcoming visit to Korea scheduled as well.
Get that in writing and take it. They’ll be great subs for what we need to do, and way more of a PROBLEM for potential adversaries than the 212CDs will be.
Ruben Amorim banter has broken containment and is reaching normal bluesky. It’s time to fetch the lettuce.
