ICE has killed 9 folks in the first 26 days of ‘26:

• Alex Pretti
• Renee Good
• Keith Porter
• Heber Sanchaz Domínguez
• Victor Manuel Diaz
• Parady La
• Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz
• Luis Gustavo Nunez Caceres
• Geraldo Lunas Campos

They all deserve justice. And for us to remember their names.

casual reminder that Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were assassinated seven months ago, and Senator Hoffman and his wife were seriously injured that day as well, and both of those things were outcomes that the current administration wants to happen again
someone just tried attacking rep ilhan omar at her town hall in north minneapolis, reportedly trying to spray her with something, but was tackled before he could get to her. she returned to speaking

This is the way, make “ok, abolish only ICE” the moderate position.
Amid growing calls for the abolition of ICE, Rep. Delia Ramirez is calling for the entire DHS to be dismantled. Highlighting how much experience the officers who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti had, Ramirez said, “DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity.”
House Democrat Says Abolishing ICE Isn’t Enough — DHS Must Go, Too
“The problem isn’t ‘training.’ DHS was built to violate our rights,” said Rep. Delia C. Ramirez.

I really do have very accommodating cats because I lost my balance as I was crouching to cuddle Sissel and subsequently gently knocked her over and in her slow motion tumble backwards she didn't bat at me or meow scream at me, she just gave me this grumpy look of "Ma'am, please why : ("

Can someone please inform Chuck Schumer that his made-up swing vote family, the Baileys, are also for abolishing ICE?

wild to see any Democrats “unite” around any bodycam proposal after DHS has said they’ve got multiple bodycam videos of agents killing Alex Pretti

One human rights observer in Maine said agents followed her home, blocked off her street, and came to her door to say they know where she lives. Her children are now staying elsewhere, to keep them safe.

Friends, I recommend you ALL get on the phones and or send emails first thing tomorrow telling @democrats.senate.gov NO FUNDING FOR ICE. NONE.

They are, per Chris Coons, planning to negotiate body cameras. This willl not change the violence, the invasions of our cities.

Really important to call your senators if you haven’t already and tell them unequivocal no for money to DHS and no on reforms. They haven’t voted yet and already have history of caving. Also tell them no one believes in Schumer, he has led the party to defeat after defeat & his strategies suck ass.
Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

Once again it looks like Schumer is about to choke after getting a massive opportunity.

So pathetic and weak.
Senate Democrats plot strategy as DHS standoff deepens heading into shutdown week
Two sources who were on a Democratic caucus strategy call Sunday said Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told the group the message must be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

Bovino out is a great indicator. It’s a great start. But none of us can be appeased right now. It’s still abolish ICE. It’s still prosecute these fascists. It’s still destroy the whole apparatus that has been terrorizing and disappearing and murdering our neighbors.

So keep pushing. Anything short of ICE’s abolition isn’t nearly enough.

And I’d say that even ICE’s abolition should only be the start of ending the violence that came to feel “normal” under Trump.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

I know respectability politics are bullshit, I know perfect victim narratives are toxic and harmful, but it really is so striking to me that they’re not only murdering white people, THESE are the white people they’re murdering

On film, in the midst of trying to help people
The execution of Alex Pretti is playing so badly because you can look at his actions and life story - his last act was helping, boy scout, athlete, health care worker to veterans - and compare those to the men who killed him and know which you would want to be your son, brother, father, uncle.

While Pretti didn't have to be a saint for his death to be a tragedy, the circumstances DO matter. He visibly resisted as peacefully as possible, hands visible/down & they killed him & smeared him. There was a reddit post of a Trump voter saying "if you can justify his murder you will justify mine."
Their cruelty might be the point, but it is also radicalizing normal people at a phenomenal rate. The choice they present is "do nothing and accept this current state we are imposing and that this is how it's going to be" and people are putting their bodies on their line to say no it will not.
Here's a regular white guy (literally "Chad") not a protester. because, "It seemed pointless, or just a way for people to expiate their sense of guilt." Chad witnessed something shattering. And, that all changed in a moment.

Excellent article!

It cracks me up whenever they show an airplane in a movie or TV show. We have been on them. We know how wide the aisles are and how close the seats are. No, you can not lay that fully grown man having a heart attack comfortably down in the aisle of the economy section.
