i'm having kind of a rough day/year/last 2 years but taking solace in the fact that i'm not elon musk
Every bit of this only reinforces Joyce Carol Oates’ absolute roast of Elon Musk as fundamentally lacking in the ability to enjoy anything normally human. “I built a tool that can insult people in a social setting better than anything ever invented” is a real personal tell.
Everything about this might be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen

A bit more detail about this post. Trump-world (and particularly Press Sec. Karoline Leavitt) have been leaning heavily on the idea of a popular mandate from last year's election. Declining polls and the 2025 elections strain that argument, but the presidency still has a whole lot of power

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

I co-sign Mark's thread. The claim that we brought this on ourselves is absurd and dangerous.
NARRATOR: Roth quite clearly did not name call & we need our leaders to stop granting <every bad faith premise> of the far right authoritarians' lawless assault on higher education before we push back.

just a big string of lies, and this was entirely predictable. i will never be over the fact that the country chose this again.
Combating this lie is tiresome.

But it’s worth pointing out that RBOB gasoline today hit its highest level since September. ⛽️
Trump: "I don't want to hear about the affordability, because right now we're much less. If you look at energy, we're getting close to $2 a gallon gasoline."
