Please share!

We have a number of fully funded PhD studentships in "Designing Responsible Natural Language Processing". I'm a possible supervisor & I'd be keen to support projects on sociolinguistics-AI, e.g., accent bias in AI, language+gender/sexuality+AI.

On the train (as you do) someone just stopped and stared at my mcnuggets and very emphatically said “I’m so jealous”.

Does make me feel a lot less sad for myself when macca’s bought at the station in between trains was my only dinner option.

It’s a (very belated) new year, so here’s a reminder that you can play along #TheGreatBritishCommute bingo to alleviate your train travails, I mean, travels.
A 5x5 bingo sheet titled #TheGreatBritishCommute, from top to bottom, left to right:
Running behind a late-running service; Trespasser on the railway; Lineside fire; Shortage of train crew; Line flooded;

Faulty/Broken down train; More trains needing repair than usual; FREE: Just the way it is; Speed restriction due to high winds; Fault with the signalling system;
Cable theft; Congestion; Broken rail; Late from depot; Overrun engineering works;

hello Northern Trains, love that there's no time restriction to bring bikes on your trains, but wow the pretend cycle space on some of your class 150 and 158 trains truly sucks

Ah! Thanks for that.

I find it endlessly frustrating that one of the biggest empirical findings from sociolinguistics is consistently ignored. Change doesn't come from children making mistakes. Change comes from adolescents incrementing existing probabilistic patterns.

I haven't read this paper but hopefully it's good.
