"His imprisonment has surprised many… who doubted he would ever end up behind bars."

Including, apparently, Trump, who thought he was being busted out that same night.

Too bad.
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro started his 27-year prison sentence on Tuesday for leading a coup attempt, after exhausting all appeals.

His imprisonment has surprised many in the South American nation who doubted he would ever end up behind bars.

@Stilgherrian, do you know Alfie?

Alfie, Stil. Stil, Alfie.

I have the feeling you might have at least one thing in common.

very funny that we couldn't allow an indigenous voice to parliament but the cops get one. Cool, normal country.
Sadly, they cut a deal with the Libs to indeed rush this through

That's a jar of lemon curd made and put away. Thanks for the suggestion, @kizzythesecond.bsky.social.

I still have to make some lemon and ginger syrup next.

Ancient NSW mythology tells us that at the passing of a Premier, their soul was escorted through the underworld and brought before the god Icac, who would weigh their corruption against a bottle of Penfolds
The greatest Australian honour is no medal or ribbon or postnominal set of letters, it is the privilege any one of us can have, to be called before the ICAC, and tell them lies

While I was making dinner tonight, I whipped up a quick batch of Chinese Five Spice powder.

First I toasted some spices (guess how many? Go on, guess!) in a dry pan and then ground them up and put them into a little spice jar.

Now my entire house smells delicious!

Here's a cautionary tale from the US.

In New York City, stop-and-frisk warrantless searches were allowed. From 2000 - 2006, the data shows that of everyone stopped and frisked, 67% were black and INNOCENT.

It's so easy for that shoe to turn into a jackboot. Don't do it.

Here we go... Look out for the full video of me as my character, Cleaveskull, coming soon. Please repost this with wild abandon, and pre-order the book. Paperback pre-orders should be along before too long.

This is just wrong.

“If you aren’t carrying a weapon, you don’t have anything to worry about,” the spokesperson said.

Right. They're just going to ignore anything else they find in their fishing expedition searches?

Next they'll be asking for citizenship papers and visas.

I have half a bag of lemons that are going to need using up soon as well as a decent chunk of ginger that isn't getting any fresher.

I was thinking of a cordial/syrup to put into my bubbly-water.

Any other lemon/ginger favourites, folks?

The webcomic xkcd has elicited many emotions in me over these long years, most often confusion. A gentle tear has not been a common reaction though. Just a few times, including today.

Best wishes Randall (@xkcd.com) and Mrs xkcd for both of your continuing good health.

Maybe #3 or #4 on the list! 🤣😘
