Since you all love #Oddsock. He has a statement.

"My human is at risk in UK only because she's autistic. Here we lock up autistic kids & adults for decades for no reason - 2500 of them right now & we do nothing about it. No dog should lose their humans this way. This is what should be trending"

Is it still a thing for anyone to plan on their own? Most schools now using a lot of schemes like White Rose and Kapow. A lot of teachers I know don’t do any actual planning from scratch except for English maybe.

If your a #ECT struggling remember you don't need plan everything yourself. Why we share, ask online, ask colleagues, set up drives between ECTs, go to OakNational or Tes for resources, go ask on edutwitter groups.

Your not on your own. Ask for help!

The scope of the solutions has to match the scope of the problems. This isn’t enough to match anything.

Can't describe how much happier I feel now the command center has gone back up in the new house. My brain has not been working for months. If you have a ADHD Autistic person in your life. Have a command center. ♥️♥️

This is so true. Having set the first one up in a school in the UK and being part of the maker community for decades now. Makerspaces help alot just being around others doing a project. Bliss.
This is why I keep returning to the makerspace. Losing myself in the creative flow is therapy for my weary mind. The socially prescribed method of talking to a kind stranger 1 hour a week does *nothing*. Its sole benefit is placating medical doctors ignorant of autistic adult lives and needs.

Reminding everyone that reasonable adjustments are a legal right under the Equality Act (and Autism Act) regardless of where you work.

Accodomations aren't just nice to have or stop when it's inconvenient to a NT way of doing things, as we can't just stop being disabled...surprisingly.

Being observed while I was training was terrifying and then being told that I needed to do something differently or “better” without usable feedback on how to improve was often overwhelming. You feel bad that you’re not doing it “right” and then worse because you don’t know how to improve.

Hows this work for disabled and neurodivergent teachers?
Backwards this is. Thread 🧵

I have had several inspections over my career and each one was terrifying. I wasn't publicly autistic back then, most teachers aren't.

The news that Ofsted is proposing inspecting teaching as a standalone category is unwelcome in the sector, and for very good reason, argues Zoe Enser

I'm just going to point out again what I keep pointing out with AI.

From a Equality Act perspective in education your on really shaky ground. Disability and Neurodivergency is rarely even considered, bias is bad & people will start to take legal action
