He/Him. I'm Kabanaw. I worked as a programmer at Harmonix. I still kind of do, but now we all work on Fortnite as a part of Epic. I don't really stream much anymore but pretty often guest on Pit Crew stuff!

A bunch of rich assholes threatened to leave Massachusetts when we added a millionaire tax and guess what. They didn't leave and it's raised billions of dollars for the commonwealth

insane series. insane postseason. baseball is so cool
Sorry to Canada, but man that was an incredible save from the Dodgers, extremely well played
Sacrifice bunt!! Small ball! Baseball is so good!!!
Time for game 9 baybee!!!
I've seen stories about restaurants that fry things in beef tallow instead of seed oil because health weirdos think seed oils cause "inflammation". Beef tallow, which is 50% saturated fat, is definitely the healthy alternative

I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.

Sup! In a few hours, a game I had the honor and pleasure to work on is being released. It is 2025, and we are releasing a brand new Katamari Damacy. Please consider playing it! I feel the game industry needs more wholesome fun that Katamari brings to the table.

Pre-purchase Once Upon A KATAMARI on Steam
Once upon a time a katamari rolled through both past and present. In this story across time, the adage endures: Let The Good Times Roll! Now onward through new worlds to roll up thy heart's desires an...

Yeah in the end Game freak is a AA game developer that made the most popular franchise in the world and they refused to stop being a AA game developer, when their games aren't broken I respect them for it
I can agree that previous issues with frame rate and graphical bugs should have been (and were) criticized, but I think the building thing doesn't belong in that conversation. "Don't ship broken games" is one thing, "don't ship games with shortcuts" is another
What changes to the building models do you think would make them feel acceptable?
Don't forget about QA! Now you'll need QA to walk around the whole game looking at every building from multiple angles to make sure there are no visible seams or other geometry issues. A whole new slew of testing + bugs created just so that you can look at a balcony that you can't walk on
All these extra models are more detailed, which means more verts to render and more textures to load, which means perf + memory concerns! Now you need engineers to make optimizations and you'll probably need to sacrifice quality elsewhere to make it work
On the art side of things, now you need to model out the exteriors of buildings. That means making models and placing them through the whole game, and ensuring that their models + textures align properly so that they look good, since that's the whole point of the "feature"
Unironically, gamers being upset about buildings not being fully modeled is one of the big problems for the games industry. The demand that worlds be fully "realistic", even if it's completely unimportant to the game, and that needlessly inflates budgets and timelines
We know now this is utter nonsense but this is indicative of the massive problem that exists in regards to Pokémon, and Nintendo in general.

People post without context and/or knowledge and it spreads, and spreads and people just assume. This has 127k likes...

This is wrong.

When politicians make people prove they are poor enough to “deserve” help, it tells ordinary people that we aren’t interested in helping them.

Even when we can qualify, who wants to?

Actually-progressive policies help everyone. Billionaires get to use the library just like the rest of us.
What a bad survey question! If they had split this into "Did you think influencers were more positive or negative about this set?" and "Did influencers affect your perception of the set?" would give them clean data and wouldn't sound like sour grapes to boot
i don't feel like magic set surveys usually have this question and i don't appreciate the implication that content creators, who do so so much for the game, are possibly to blame for a bad set's poor performance. 👎
I really wish Ed Markey would find someone younger who shares his ideals to replace him, 80 years old is too old to start a 6 year term. I will, however, vote for him enthusiastically over the trans hating ghoul Seth Moulton
Listening to some old albums again, Arcade Fire's funeral is kind of perfect. 10 tracks with no duds. A lot of my favorite tracks are from their later stuff but as a whole album Funeral is hard to beat.
@friends-table.bsky.social Does your merch provider do baby clothes? I would like to buy a onesie with a flegg on it so I can put a flegg on my baby. If it helps, my partner agrees this is a good idea. Thanks.
I feel like things have gone the opposite way for me. My career is going well but it eats up any creative energy I have to make my own games. I have no idea how anybody has it all!!!
Agreed, anything that isn't just treating it as something that people Are is going to make it into something weird and probably bad
I feel like I've been seeing this for the past couple of years, my best guess is that for some younger subgroups autism is seen as a virtue instead of a stigma, which is problematic in its own right but maybe better?
