I don't usually care, let alone tear up. This heatfelt and deeply personal eulogy was extremely moving. It makes me realise that not everything on TV is cynical calculated fodder. There are real people and real friendships. #jimmykimmell #cleto youtu.be/0xlVAr6JZ9A?...

The finale of the great TV comedy show Blackadder goes Forth.
Back then I didn't expect one of the funniest programmes ever to end with a scene that makes me cry every time I see it.
Every single time.

UK comedy in the 1970's lead the world. The country was suffering but we were funny. Not The 9 o'clock News was genius. The legendary and missed Mel Smith with other now famous faces. Pity I didn't watch any of it at the time. youtube.com/shorts/tipS0...

The age of great songs written by bands of young musicians on the radio every week has passed. I was fortunate to have enjoyed that time. Great song by Squeeze. First time I’ve seen the video - no TV in the early 80’s

Squeeze | Up The Junction | Cool For Cats | 1979

A classic small story song that prompts the pub quiz question - what time was the baby born?

‘Take On Me’ has been stuck in our heads for 40 years. Here’s how it got there.
“Take On Me,” the 1980s synth-pop hit song from the band A-ha, marks 40 years of global ubiquity even while personal disputes have chilled the Norwegian trio.

The next day Toad gave his jacket to Frog. Frog thought that it was beautiful. He put it on and jumped for joy. None of the buttons fell off. Toad had sewed them on very well.

Frog and Toad went outside. They tramped through the snow.

“We will ride down this big hill on my sled,” said Frog.

“Not me,” said Toad.

“Do not be afraid,” said Frog. “I will be with you on the sled.”

Too much bs has meant weak minded people can just say “there’s a lot of different opinions” as an excuse. Not all opinions are as valid or backed by any data.
Meiselas: As all of this information has flooded the zone, you’d think that would be a good thing—that people would get more educated. But paradoxically, I think it’s brought us back to the Dark Ages and feudal times, because a lot of information doesn’t necessarily mean good information.
