At one point, my therapist said this about my mom: "she was so accepting, and just took such joy in the person right in front of her, that she didn't need a label to explain you. She just *liked* you so much."

The full story is worse; white guy started calling a Black man all sorts of slurs, and the Black man snapped and pulled out the knife. Thank God I got out of the way of trying to get the white guy to back off just in time.

Nah, lol I'm morally opposed to all those agencies. But the silly TV-style fantasy of being a spy did sound fun! (They were interested in me because I'm a native Ukrainian speaker, I suspect it would not have been very glamorous anyway)
