say it again:

4 million people work in higher ed, the largest employer in 10 states, second largest employer in 10 more, and in 60 of the 100 biggest cities

ROI for NIH and NSF for local economies is conservatively 4x, often close to 10x

demolishing higher education is economic sabotage

There is a false dichotomy drawn between "the ivory tower" and "the real world," and I'm here to report that in a post-industrial society, your real-world economy absolutely hinges on the university.

University towns are factory towns. Universities drive economic activity, not the other way around.

With mRNA and CRISPR this country could be entering a scientific heyday and instead we’re torching the institutions that make it all possible.

Poll: weekly, more than 90% of ppl use weather forecasts, job market reports, food safety warnings, & other info based on fed sci.

But only *10%* concerned cuts to fed support for science might impact their access to that info.

Two $70,000,000 fighter jets fell off a navy ship in the past two weeks.

But 24/7 weather monitoring across the US is considered “wasteful”.

🚨URGENT RESPONSE CALL🚨

🌪️23 LIVES WERE LOST OVERNIGHT AS TORNADOS HIT KY.

KY has one of several regions in the US without 24/7 National Weather Service coverage, due to DOGE cuts. W/out overnight monitoring, ppl don't receive weather warnings.

THIS is how science cuts cost lives.

As a former @hhmi.org Gilliam fellow, I’m deeply disappointed to see HHMI cancel the Hanna Gray this year and pause all competitions.

This is what we are talking about when we say NIH funding saves lives. Specifically these researchers stepped in created a therapy that may well save this child's life. It is amazing. This is what is at stake. If NIH goes away, we lose all of this, for at least a generation.

HAPPY TAX DAY!
How much would you spend on a year of tornado warnings? The average US taxpayer spends only $4 a year to help fund the NWS. It’s a smart investment—every $1 invested in NWS yields approx. $73 in social benefits.
🌪️❄️ Support science. Support the NWS.
Stay tuned for more this #TaxDay
