FF8 Balamb - from what i can tell, the main ring is the indoor area of the central building and all the peripheral areas are outbuildings connected by the long hallways. there aren't a lot of great views of the campus-y outdoor areas in between, will have to fudge that a bit.

Contrast to ME1 where you get Virmire. Yes, you lose a squad mate there, it isn't communicated that completing all the Mission Worlds forces you to end credits with no post-game state, but at least it's possible to do it when you want to!

There's also the Collector Ship because of the floating platform bit. The final mission has that, but by then you're all leveled up.

I wouldn't mind Horizon and the Collector Ship, but it's the invisible nature of getting them and not being able to save them for later that makes then annoying!

I think both have compromised narrative structured because of their non-linear main stories. Although yes ME2's is worse because you're getting in a groove and all of a sudden you have a Skype call with Elon Musk forcing you to go to a huge difficulty spike you aren't prepared for!

I try! I like how Forbidden West does it where you the can enable a button prompt to move onto the game, giving you as much time as you like to read tips! (Uncharted had a similar thing for characters giving puzzle tips)
