OMG, this!!!

Caught up to a guy who close passed me recently just as he exhaled. Told him he nearly hit me, and he (high as hell) replied "oh, I'm sorry, man...I didn't even see you."

I was wearing high viz yellow & had lights.
A thing urban cyclists know that urban drivers do not: how many people smoke weed while they're driving. On every ride between my house and office I smell weed from a passing car. Every day. I, for one, welcome our new robot car overlords.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said.

That is called murder when they do that.

Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.

Merry Christmas to all.

I hope the Christmas story inspires many people.

And makes a small group of people deeply uncomfortable with their life choices.

No, Adobe Acrobat, I don't want your AI feature to summarize what looks like a long document. I NEVER want your AI to summarize the document for me.

I’m CEO of a justice tech company that tells people never to use ChatGPT for legal advice.

So naturally, I almost lost my NC driver’s license because… I used ChatGPT for legal advice.

DMV said I’d be suspended for a Virginia speeding ticket. ChatGPT confidently told me the DMV was “clearly wrong.”

The red zone, wasted

Sports cars have a tachometer, a gauge showing how close the motor is to melting down. When the revs enter the red zone, performance is enhanced--for a while. Do it too much or for too long, and you'll burn out. In our work, there are two sorts of red zones. Athletes know that…

What John said. Go read this.
For those of you interested in politics, e.g. most of you (or at least the most prolific of you), I recommend reading this. All of it.

It may possibly be the one thing you should read today. Not because it gives the future of the U.S. + our lives, but because it looks at how to LOOK at the future.
Scenarios for the Future of the United States of America
This will not be what you expect.

Wow - read the comments from residents of Republican-led Ohio about their power bills this year. This issue has legs. People (even Republicans) want more renewables and question why they're paying more due to data centers. www.cleveland.com/news/2025/10...
Electric bills doubled for many Ohioans — and they’re furious: The Readers Write
Ohioans are facing doubled electricity bills, causing frustration and economic strain, with blame placed on data centers and state policies.

See: the US auto industry
By focusing the political debate on the wrong issue, Europe’s car industry may well turn into the next industrial policy train wreck.

The real risk is a costly muddle of regulatory rollbacks, bailouts, and a patch work of national subsidies - only for the sector to slow-walk into oblivion anyway

Shutting down coal plants is an unambiguous win. First, @latitudemedia.bsky.social reports that Idaho Power is requesting a rare rate *decrease* due to lower costs after shuttering coal. (1/2) www.latitudemedia.com/news/after-c...
After closing coal plants, Idaho Power is the rare utility cutting rates
The utility asked regulators to lower electricity rates in Oregon, even as its peers raise them — and Trump pushes coal as the solution.

Also: the path to electrifying transportation isn’t a straight line.
"A 55% plunge in BEV sales to China was in stark contrast to a 213.5% jump in North America and a 60% increase in Europe."

Seems to work without subsidies for the well-off to buy EVs.

The value of having an energy geek in Congress. This bill by IL Rep. @seancasten.bsky.social is a solid piece of policy. Hoping, but not holding my breath, that it can move forward. www.utilitydive.com/news/casten-...
Democratic House bill would reverse Trump energy policies, bolster RTO oversight
The Trump administration is driving up the cost of electricity by creating barriers to clean energy investment to support higher-cost fossil fuel sectors, Rep. Sean Casten said.

Just returned from a lovely few days in downtown Chicago. If by “war zone,” Sen Paul means “people exercising by the lake and walking peacefully down the sidewalk saying ‘hi’ to passers-by,” then, yes, it’s a war zone.
Rand Paul: "Chicago is a nightmare. It is literally a war zone."

We've got a massive amount of South Korean investment here in Georgia, a result of literally decades of economic development work.

While I'm not saying we should just ignore immigration law, the heavy-handed way this raid was done imperils Georgia's economy. Everything Trump touches dies.
The fallout from the raid on a battery factory in Georgia is already being felt. There are a number of scenarios but none of them are as good as the status quo circa 10 days ago. US lithium-ion battery production will be affected, and the timing couldn't be worse. #energysky

WTAF??!!!? We've done a lot in Georgia to welcome South Koreans and South Korean businesses. Hyundai isn't the only Korean company with significant investments here (SK Innovations, Q Cells, among others).

Shame on this administration for destroying the goodwill we've built between our countries.
"Among those detained were South Korean employees on business travel....

"The raid could raise concerns for South Korean companies that are sending personnel to the US and hiring locally."

It comes weeks after Hyundai pledged $26 billion in US investments.

So #EV sales are hitting records right now. That's good.

But as I keep having to warn, prepare yourself for a barrage of hysterical, catastrophic headlines after EV sales fall in Q4. You may see "EV sales crater" or "Buyers walk away from pricey EVs" or "The EV boom has ended."

Don't believe 'em.
Ford sees EV sales skyrocket in August as buyers rush to beat tax credit deadline
Ford's sales of EVs skyrocketed by 19% to a total of 10,671 sold in August. Year to date, however, Ford's EV sales are down 5.7% at 57,888 sold.
