I've come to agree with this. I used to find it too facile an explanation for the concerted effort to build a brainlessly loyal r/w cult since the time of Reagan. But the still very active loathing of Obama nigh on to a decade later speaks loudly.

Justice Alito, as the justice assigned to hear emergency appeals from the 5th Circuit, now needs to decide whether to stay the ruling and keep what is a blatant racial gerrymander in place for the next election, or follow the weight of precedent. I sadly don’t have any faith he will do what’s right.
