Once Upon a Time, I was running a conference in honor of a Name Scholar who had passed. One of our professors, who was not the Name Scholar she imagined herself to be, put herself on one of the panels to the surprise of no one who had ever met her.

It seems like this is a racial issue that requires some critical theorizing…if only that weren’t illegal now.

When I was four, my first day of preschool I found out that there were people who had different skin tones from me. I was so excited. I wanted to collect friends in every color (my favorite color was green. I wanted a green friend.)
