Every day, and especially on Indigenous Peoples' Day--we celebrate the resistance and fight for land sovereignty, and underline how interlinked that is to our fights for bodily autonomy and access to abortions! Show your solidarity today by donating to @iwrising.bsky.social's Rain Fund.
Fixed it for you, Charlotte Lozier Institute. 👍🏻
Yes! This is also true in Washington. If you're in Kitsap County and have questions about how to pay for an abortion, please contact us via DM or email: [email protected]
I was actually surprised to learn recently that Alaska's Medicaid program pays for abortion care, including flights to Washington for second trimester abortions.
There is no such thing as fed funding for the vast majority of abortion care (thanks to the Trump budget passed this summer, for at least a year) but some states still allow local public insurance recipients to use that insurance for abortion. B/c people who live in those geographies support it.

“My biggest fear is going to the hospital."

Pregnant immigrants are terrified ICE will show up outside the doctors' office or at the hospital. So they're skipping the care necessary to ensure a healthy birth.

Some experience dangerous complications as a result.

ICE fears put pregnant immigrants and their babies at risk
Fear of deportation is deterring people without permanent legal status from critical care. Doctors are worried for their health — and the health of their pregnancies.

Saw some post somewhere earlier about people “not getting” transness or whatever

You don’t have to get it.

If you believe in bodily autonomy for all, then no one needs you to understand their personal situation to earn being seen as a person by you.

You just treat every human being as a person.

Some updates to our list here, and most of them are good—more affiliates tell us they are still caring for people with Medicaid post-"defund."

But an awful lot of these statements come with a "for now" caveat, suggesting things could change in a few weeks or months.
Here’s Which Planned Parenthood Clinics Are Still Seeing Medicaid Patients
In the wake of federal “defunding,” one Planned Parenthood affiliate has halted abortions, another has suspended all Medicaid services, and others are self-pay only. Find out where your local organiza...

Our Bremerton Planned Parenthood will continue to provide services -- including medication abortion -- to Medicaid recipients, despite the "defund" provision in the federal budget. Folks elsewhere in the country may be in a different situation. 1/2

Our Access Director and Co-founder Elisa Wells on mifepristone's 25th anniversary in the US:

"While not a perfect system by any means, it represents an amazing revolution in access and an important way in which the injustice of abortion bans is being disrupted."

Oops, to be clear, there are a couple other clinics in Wisconsin not affiliated with Planned Parenthood. But Wisconsinites' already limited options are tightening even further. Many folks will be forced to travel for care. Abortion funds need your help.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: if you'd like to help the people of Wisconsin obtain the abortion care they need despite the lack of providers in the state, the most effective things to do is donate to abortion funds that cover the state or region. Find a choice of fund(s) here:

Awful news out of Wisconsin today. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin had only recently recommenced providing abortion care after it was briefly banned in the state (full story on that in next post), so it's especially tragic to see this happening now.
SCOOP: In June, @susanrinkunas.com and I reported at @autonomynews.co that Planned Parenthood was poised to let some of its affiliates stop providing abortion care in order to maintain Medicaid eligibility.

PPWI appears to be the first affiliate to do so.
Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin to Halt Abortion Services
Sources say the affiliate isn't scheduling abortion appointments after September 30 in an apparent attempt to avoid Medicaid "defunding."

PS: We would also like you to restore the $8.5m that was cut from the Abortion Access Project. kthx 👍

There's SO MUCH going on that I'm sure this news will get lost, but: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has signed into law a first-of-its-kind bill that lets private citizens to sue abortion providers who ship pills into the state.

Providers basically told me: Bring it on.
