I make specialized game dev tools. Studio Director of @CausewayStudios.com, formerly Unity. He/him.
The more I see, the more I wonder if Tim and I are the same person (just in different positions and with a love for different games). There are ways he talks about @hoodedhorse.bsky.social here that are almost word for word how I've talked about @causewaystudios.com.

CEO of Manor Lords publisher Hooded Horse wants it to be 'a positive influence and a great company for 100 plus years' by fighting AI and treating devs ethically
The indie publisher keeps striking gold, but CEO Tim Bender is still "fundamentally unambitious", prizing stability and ethics over massive growth and profits.

For this week's #QuestionsWithCauseway:

Even players with diverse tastes tend to gravitate to one genre more than others. So we asked our team which genre is their greatest passion, and the one they simply must experience every time a new game is released. So… what’s yours? #IndieDev

I've developed a deep love of stealth games (though I almost went with tactics games) that originated with Dishonored and my most recent entry was Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream. It's all a big puzzle that's very satisfying to solve, even more so if there are multiple solutions!

Hard to pick a MOST anticipated game for this year, but I think I'm going with Resident Evil: Requiem. I've loved Survival Horror and RE in particular since I was young. Ever since RE7, the series has been on an absolute heater, so I'm (heart)pumped for this one. #QuestionsWithCauseway

The Haunting of Joni Evers is still 40% off (under $10!) until Monday!!

Need an emotional story about family and perspective? It's a wonderful weekend to play what the latest review said "was amazing, and the graphics and storyline were great."

I've been excitedly awaiting @funselektor.bsky.social's over the hill ever since that first announcement trailer! Something about that cozy, cooperative vibe just feels right for me with everything going on. I can't wait to explore, adventure, and get out of sticky situations with my friends!

The Haunting of Joni Evers is a cool $8.99 for the next week, which is virtually the same as a number less than that! (Pricing is a dark art and a mad science, after all!)
The Haunting of Joni Evers is on sale for 40% off in the Steam Detective Fest!

Need an indie game for January? Play what one review just called “a really surprising masterpiece” for less than $10!

(Not sure why they said “surprising” 😅)

Also, Tuesday is the anniversary of the release and I’d be eternally grateful to hear what you thought and who your favorite character was!

Timeline Cleanse: Please enjoy this photo of a praying mantis that was sitting on top of my car windshield, but the angling and lighting were so weird it looks like a giant praying mantis wandering a corn field in Iowa.

I love that we're doing this!

With that said, I had a TOUGH time picking my GOTY. But thinking about which game is still sitting with me, it's gotta be Dispatch.

The Telltale formula works... IF you ship episodes on a regular cadence. This one hits hard! #QuestionswithCauseway

Blue Prince, no question. It came barging into my life at an unfathomably low moment last year and shook me out of the dark place.
This week’s #QuestionsWithCauseway:

There were a number of great games in 2025, and it’s hard to pick a GOTY… but we’re doing it anyway! This week, our team will share their picks and tell you why!

We want to hear your picks, too! Quote-post your GOTY so we can share it out! #IndieDev

I played some really great games in 2025! But let’s be real, my favourite game of 2025 isn’t a big game or a super duper popular game — it’s Tiny Bookshop!

Not an easy choice, but my personal Game of the Year was Wanderstop (from @ivyroadgames.bsky.social).

Almost immediately I felt so personally called out by Alta: her journey, her self-reliance, and her stubborn work ethic (😅), and the way Boro was written to bring levity with guidance was 🧑🏻‍🍳🤌🏻

One of my favorite things about having released a game is having these little cards with free codes that I can leave behind in random coffee shops or give to people I talk to that enjoy story games.
