To make common cause with this Administration is to support an affirmatively white supremacist vision of this country. Period.

Every corporation.
Every Republican.
Every influencer.
Every Governor.
Every evangelical leader.
Every voter. Yes. Every voter.
Mark Kelly: "This president, when he says things like 'third world countries,' what is he really saying? I think what he's saying is he doesn't want brown people in our country. And that's disturbing. It's un-American."

The thing about AI anime dubs and AI Actor Tilly Norwood and AI music is just the fucking disrespect, this is what your industry thinks can replace you and it’s not even good. It’s not even a thing you look at with dread at how the computer has replaced Man, it just sucks ass lol it just blows

This principle remains at the heart of our work at The Walrus as well. The more media orgs that can take the right side in this stand, the better chance we have of avoiding the worst consequences of AI.
The harm that generative AI has and will continue to cause to the environment, democracy, media literacy, and people's ability to connect with one another is one of the most urgent issues of our time. And care for people and communities is the beating heart of our work at The Local.
This week The Local announced our AI policy, the core of which is pretty simple: “When you read The Local, know that our stories are written and edited by real people, that photographs are taken by real photographers, and that illustrations are created by real illustrators.” thelocal.to/ai-policy/

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

CPAC is absolutely vital and if we can't find the (relative) pocket change to preserve it what are we even doing here.

Yeah, if I drop the multiple viewings component in a similar post, I get a more interesting list:

-Bruce Springsteen at Scotiabank Place
-Paul McCartney at the ACC
-Tom Petty at the ACC
-Tragically Hip at Memorial Park (North Bay)
-Pat Matheny & Ron Carter at Detroit Jazz Fest
Really made me sit down and think about this one

Great Big Sea at Centre in the Square (best live music ever, no contest)
Mumford & Sons at Budweiser Stage
Ed Sheeran at the ACC
Dawes at The Phoenix
Bastille at the ACC
Yea ok this one seems fun

Tragically Hip at the Corel Centre
Big Sugar in Porter Hall at Carleton University
Rise Against / Against Me / An**-Fl** at Capital Music Hall
Billy Talent at Capital Music Hall
Flogging Molly at The Rainbow in Montreal

From Céline Dion to Drake, Canada has produced some music heavyweights. But between funding cuts, streaming loopholes, and pressure from the US, the future of Canadian music depends on how we show up now. Writer @touchofallright.bsky.social explores: thewalrus.ca/amid-buy-canadia...

Nobody.

Not a single soul.

Vegas: Our goaltending is pretty shaky. Good thing we have a sex pest waiting in the wings.

Sure, Vegas has Marner now but are they really as good without Kendall Roy?…

People will die, and are currently dying, because RFK was granted one of the most powerful megaphones in the country. Two people who could have thrown barriers in front of his climb decided not to; there's a sex scandal here but it is not the biggest scandal.

Holy hell, that was a heck of a closing sequence for the Raps. They’ve legitimately got something going with this year’s squad.

I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

Kaliyev has understandably gotten a lot of the attention in Belleville this season but Daoust being among the league leaders in scoring through 1/4 of the season is definitely the best surprise we've had in the AHL so far.

I've mostly been either cast as British or as a cuck, so this has me pretty concerned...
As someone with acting experience, I've explained to my friends that 99% of actors can only play two roles: their actual self or the polar opposite. Ex: Ashton Kutcher actually is really dumb, Kevin Spacey actually is creepy, Christopher Lee was kind despite always playing villains etc etc

Not a movie, but considering how my 4 yr old has this on constant rotation, I would commission an episode of "The Lion Guard" where every character gets eaten.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.
