Naomi Novik's "Deadly Education" (aka the Scholomance Series) is 110% how I'd expect a magical school CfB to look like.

There's also "The Library at Hellebore" by Cassandra Khaw, but that's a bit closer to just an Apocalypse Keys playset/prebuilt setting.

It's been on my mind.

Should still display it, calling it, "The Fragility of Empires"

The quote came from this article. It's a really sad look at people who, look, I'm glad they found each other.
AI chatbots upended their lives. Then they turned to each other : Consider This from NPR
Some people who say AI chatbots upended their lives and the lives of their loved ones, are now turning to each other for support. Around the world, people are talking to AI chatbots, and these chats c...

Some people really pushed back on the idea that 5e is a combat-focused game. But you give a fluffy Cloud Dragon a stat block, or make the whole fiction about Neopets without changing the rules, and suddenly it becomes much clearer.

"If [GenAI] is the disease, human connection is the cure."

I know there is a dark corner of TTRPG space that uses AI, but by and large, this is a hobby that *demands* human connection.

If you're in this hobby as a player, practice GMing, friends. There will come a day your services are needed.

Well. At least it wasn't a long long day.

Bad Bunny wearing a blue bunny hat at the Super Bowl would be a power move, just saying.

Just a reminder: there is no "right way" to enjoy Harry Potter.

"But this podcast" No.
"But the fanworks" No.
"But it was my childhood" Don't care. Read better fantasy. Cut this one out of your life.
JK Rowling's team invited Jeffery Epstein to the deathly hallows play and to a Harry potter dinner.

I was in that game with Mads! Aside from being a thoughtful game, the pastoral way the text is written is just...choice.

I still think about my game of Harvest from time to time.
Belonging Outside Belonging games do not get anywhere near the love or attention they deserve.

They never disappoint.

I've been sick for like, a solid week. And I felt bad because I've used it as an excuse to not do things I normally like doing. Felt like burnout.

Now I'm looking at the clock and it's past 1 AM. I have work tomorrow, but the word doc has a lot more words added to it.

Feels good to be back.

It was also a bit of a unique class in that it was more "conversational". The professor had his thoughts and ideas, but sent us out to find answers and had us bring them back for discussion (as opposed to a lecture-based class where we're expected to just accept the prof's words as gospel)

The Tarzan novel (1914) was required reading, as it served as a sort of "culture guide" for what was expected of men-in-western-society, and our starting off point.

We ultimately went through WWII and into the James Bond/commercialization era.

The History of Masculinity is one I keep coming back to. Prof took a lot of time in the first class to separate "manliness" from "masculinity" before starting, essentially, in WWI when enlisted men and officers essentially shared the same space for the first time.

An ugly truth I don't think gets mentioned enough:

Some people's problems with fascism as it manifests isn't that there is fascism; it's that they aren't the ones benefiting from it.

Just a bit of joy (yes, the world at large sucks right now).

The weather has a lot of my friends working from home today, and something about online connectivity (i.e. Discord) has today feeling like an Adult Snow Day. In a way that even COVID wasn't.

Abolish ICE, prosecute and imprison its leaders, impeach and remove the President from office. This is the only sane reaction to a group of armed men kidnapping and gunning down our neighbors in the street.
As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today.

ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.

The art would have to be standout, but I've done it before.

Heck, I have a pdf of the Symbaroum art book despite not owning the game itself, or having played it.

Lemme stop you there. As someone who loves the OG Top Gun a more-than-ordinary amount, Tom Cruise has nothing to do with why.
