I cannot WAIT to share the illustrated cover of my next book (SOOOOON) and I promise to tell you who made it look so gorgeous 😍)

(Thanks for the reminder @debbieohi.com !)
To publishers, authors, & others posting about illustrated books, including covers that have illustration: Please credit the ILLUSTRATOR.

This not only helps boost the illustrator, but also shows that you value HUMAN illustrators.

As a reader, so many of my personal 'best books of the year' are books that came out years ago and that I only just read now. The first year your book is out isn't the only time for it to connect with readers.
The Best Books lists are a'coming, so this is your annual (semi-annual? Who knows!) reminder that if your book isn't on these lists, that doesn't make it any less valuable. These lists are completely subjective. They say nothing of what readers actually respond to. And if just one kid finds

To publishers posting about newly-launched books: PLEASE include the names of the creators, not just the title of the book.

This not only helps boost authors & illustrators (who are going thru a rough time right now) but also shows that you support HUMAN creators.

Thank you.

Talking to Kids About Banned Books

Book bans can be confusing and even scary for young readers. But open conversations help kids think critically and feel empowered to explore ideas.

Because every conversation helps raise the next generation of thinkers, dreamers, and readers.

I have dialed way back on social media. I use Instagram for mostly author updates and I got rid of my FB author account. I share things on here but with the assumption that I'm not really selling books but building community. Instead I focus on my website and newsletter. #kidlitchat
TOPIC: How are you using social media and the online world for your career these days? Which networks or sites are still worth your time and energy? Are you posting more? Less? Both??? #kidlitchat

It's Tuesday so it's #kidlitchat day here on Bluesky (at 9 PM Eastern/6 PM Pacific). I mean, IYKYK, but if you don't yet know, this is an hour of chat with your #kidlit friends (some of whom you know and some you don't yet know, you know?). Now you know! I hope you join us then. (But you knew that.)

Happy Diwali! Light to you in these very bleak times. This is the most meaningful celebration for me from my childhood. Little lamps lit to keep hope burning amid darkness. Lights to help fight against despair. Hugs all 🖤🔥
