Absolutely true. Realizing how comfortable playing female characters made me and how they were my default whenever I started creating a new one was one of my big clues in discovering my own identity.

I swear, places that think they're "helping" me or simplifying things for me by eliminating my username/password login and switching to this "let's send you a code to sign you in" method are just irritating me. Requiring me to grab my phone/dig into my email to sign in, is always more complicated.

The more survival crafting games I play, the more I feel like they're truly an endorsement of community, even if that's not what they set out to do. The sheer number of things you need to do in many of them is made easier by additional players and coordination.

As someone who lacked context and language for transition and so it didn't even occur to me that this might be me until I was in my 40s, this makes a ton of sense. Even once I started to have the language, The Story kept me from getting there.
Why do we expect trans folks to know that they were trans at the youngest possible ages--4 or 5 or even younger--when we know so many of us take so much longer to figure it out? It's time to talk about The Story, as Stained Glass Woman returns with a mega-sized, 5,000-word article!
