Murto kirjoitti että ympärivuorokautisen hoivan paikat ei tule riittämään ja omaisten vastuuta siksi lisättävä. Mutta kun tuota hoivaa ei voi tarjota työn ohessa niin työelämästä joutuisi yhden vanhuksen kohdalla olemaan pois keskimäärin 1-2 vuotta. Eikä läheskään kaikista vaan ole omaishoitajiksi.

Suurin osa vanhushoivasta on edelleen Suomessa(kin) omaisten tuottamaa hoivaa. Ennen kotihoidon palveluja ja niitä saatuaankin vanhus saa useimmiten apua puolisolta ja lapsiltaan, joskus ystäviltä ja naapureilta. Ympärivuorokautisen hoivan kriteerit ovat tiukat ja siinä vaiheessa tarvitaan apua 24/7

Myöskin vanhuksia oli todella paljon vähemmän kuin nyt koska ihmiset kuolivat nuorempina. Ja nyt hoivaa tarvitsevat kirjaimellisesti suuret ikäluokat. 1900-luvun alussa syntyneellä saattoi myös olla 5-10 lasta, kun taas suurilla ikäluokilla tyypillisesti vain 0-3 ja hekin saattavat asua kaukana.

Ympärivuorokautista hoivaa vaativa tilanne voi kestää useita vuosia. Hoivaa voi omien vanhempien lisäksi tarvita myös appivanhemmat. Tai/ja oma/puolison isovanhempi.

The Research Council of Finland firmly condemns the harassment and hate speech that RCF-funded researchers have recently faced online.

This kind of targeting behaviour is highly inappropriate and dangerous. It threatens academic freedom, narrows public debate, and undermines trust in science and the people behind it.

𝗜𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲. Researchers must be able to explore, question and share knowledge openly. The RCF funds research through open competition and international peer review, and our staff work to ensure the 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 of the process.
