Four reviews up today from @kphipps3000.bsky.social and I at The Reveal, and I'll say I'm generally pleased to note that you will have a compelling experience at all of them. This isn't supposed to happen in February. thereveal.film/in-review-wu...
In Review: ‘“Wuthering Heights”,’ ‘Pillion,’ ‘Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die,’ ‘Crime 101’
A big week at the movies includes an unconventional Emily Brontë adaptation, an unconventional love story, a tale about the end of the world, and a meat-and-potatoes crime thriller.

When someone makes a point you should have made it must be acknowledged.
This writer is so close to getting it! So close!

He even makes the connection of The Purge and Handmaid's Tale!

As I've said before, a lot of dystopian horror, is just, "😱What if someone treated us, the way we've treated Black people?!"

The purge is Sundown towns.

Handmaid's Tale is slavery.

In our latest Sight and Sound 100 conversation, @kphipps3000.bsky.social and I talk about Carl Dreyer's ORDET, a miraculous film about a miracle: thereveal.film/48-tie-ordet...
#48 (tie): ‘Ordet’: The Reveal discusses all 100 of Sight & Sound’s Greatest Films of All Time
Faith, family, and miracles all factor into Carl Dreyer's 1955 film, in which a humble family finds themselves visited by death and, maybe, God incarnate.

Today at The Reveal: Do you believe in miracles? No, seriously, do you? Because that's a pretty central question in Carl Dreyer's ORDET, the latest top on our journey through Sight and Sound's Top 100 movies of all time:

So. My partner suffered an accident that resulted in very significant injuries. While he is, thank christ, alright in the broadest sense, I am now an amateur RN/dog minder/kid chauffeur, so! I've restocked some prints to help keep us in pizza and pain meds.

I still reflexively shudder and think “Oh crap, we have to get off Substack!” whenever a story like this breaks. Then I remember we already did because of these issues.

The "it's just an internet meme" explanation sounds an awful lot like the infamous WTF episode where Gallagher offered his "they're just street jokes" defense.
President Trump posted a blatantly racist video clip of Barack Obama and Michelle Obama as apes, the latest in a long pattern by Trump of promoting offensive stereotypes about Black Americans and others. The White House press secretary dismissed criticism as “fake outrage.”

Today at The Reveal: reviews you can use (to decide if you want to see either of this week's new releases). You can read @scotttobias.bsky.social on Luc Besson's DRACULA and read me on THE MOMENT, which creates a clever idea for an anti-documentary but doesn't take it very far.
