Trump’s new national security strategy recasts coercion as American sovereignty, sidelining law, cooperation and global norms. Even close allies like Denmark are alarmed, writes Jeffrey D Sachs.

Trump’s empire of hubris and thuggery
Donald Trump's latest National Security Strategy memorandum treats the freedom to coerce others as the essence of US sovereignty. It is an ominous document that will – if allowed to stand – come back to haunt the United States.

No wrapping needed, no cost at all, just comfort, kindness, and a reminder that you’re not alone.

Walter Sofronoff took his fight to the Federal Court. The judgment was painstaking, and the outcome decisive: the finding of serious corrupt conduct stands, writes Andrew Fraser.

Federal Court dispatches Sofronoff empty-handed
The Federal Court has again shown itself to be a brutal arena for rebuilding reputations. In Justice Walter Sofronoff’s case, the court has backed the Integrity Commission’s conclusion of serious corrupt conduct.

Greg Barnes is right. Like the farcical tobacco taxes and vape bans, the under 16 ban on social media is gross overreach and doomed to fail. Failure will likely result in doubling down with criminal sanctions because the hubris of our politicians makes them unwilling to admit they might be wrong.

Trump increased U.S. military spending to record levels.

He bombed Iran without approval from Congress.

He's launched deadly air strikes on fishing boats in the Caribbean — while presenting no evidence to back up allegations of drug smuggling.

The use of an iconic children's book character for violent propaganda represents a new low for Hegseth. It demonstrates what a juvenile sociopath he is.
I can’t promise that this is the first time a Canadian publisher of a beloved children’s book series has publicly condemned the bloodthirsty US secretary of defense’s use of its imagery to smirkingly defend heinous war crimes. I mean who can say.
