the multi-year lack of a truly functional manuscripts catalog at the BL is finally over!!!!
Latest update from @britishlibrary.bsky.social says they are launching a new version of their main catalogue on Monday 8 December and around that time also launch an interim version of their Archives and Manuscripts Catalogue. Hooray!

MBS claims the murder of Khashoggi was "a huge mistake and we're our doing our best that this doesn't happen again."

God this is so utterly despicable. Trump is “he was no angel”- ing a journalist who was murdered and dismembered with a bone saw by agents of an authoritarian regime.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

You know who would have published a good obit of Alice Wong? Teen Vogue.

But they closed it, just a week before Alice died, screwing her out of her columnist gig a week before her death and making sure TV didn’t cover her death, Dick Cheney’s death or Mamdani’s win.

Thanks, Anna Wintour!!!

When Covid caused NYC offices to hollow out what they found was that yeah the core business districts suffered but the neighborhoods where people actually live, thrived.

All WFH means is rethinking business districts, not cities.
if you cant go in to the office 3 days a week then you really can't complain when cities are hollowed out. cities are places where ppl work and network. getting rid of that makes cities useless
And it's usually something like "but that's not what the literal DNC does!" as if I don't know, as someone who has worked on Dem campaigns, sometimes in conjunction with the DNC what they do. So I'm going to be very specific here: this is the DNC being shitty: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/12/u...

I ended up with a whole box of these as a child and read every single one. I also went on to read almost all the full versions at one point or another (sorry, Melville fans, Moby Dick and I did not suit).
Not a book but a series. I used to devour these mini illustrated classics in elementary school. They turned me into a lifelong reader.

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

The hit jobs on Mamdani keep coming. I always called my parents' friends "Auntie" or "Uncle" if they were South Asian, didn't matter whether or not they were blood relations. I love how they're wasting time on this instead of investigating, you know, flagrant top-level government corruption.
Awful piece. Just because so many white people are culturally ignorant and don’t know that Aunt, Auntie, Cousin are all terms to describe family members or close friends of our parents - even if that’s not their blood connection. The racism, the desperation, the sheer…..smallness of these attacks!

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.

“The Ohio State University will be requiring every single student, regardless of their major, to undertake AI “fluency” training as part of their degree.”

As an alum, (B.A., 2004), I am frankly disgusted with OSU’s nonsense—bowing to fascists, drinking the AI kool-aid…so deeply disappointed.
