Salt marshes are powerful protectors—buffering coastlines from storms, supporting fisheries like lobster and scallops, and locking away carbon. But what happens in these vital ecosystems during the winter months?

We were sent home from college (in Eastern Massachusetts) & had to tape up dorm windows before leaving. People were blasting U2’s “Gloria” while packing.

Did NASA just discover the best evidence yet of ancient life on Mars? 👽🪐🧪

NASA’s Perseverance rover recently discovered colorful mineral deposits on the Bright Angel formation in Jezero Crater, features that scientists think could be biosignatures, or fossil-like traces of ancient microbes.

A new school year is here, so today's post is for the chemistry teachers!

I've mapped my chemistry infographics to classroom topics, providing explanations, visualisations and interesting contexts.

It's all available to download in a free PDF here: wp.me/p4aPLT-8Ty

Great question! None of the above. (G2 if I had to pick from these only.) Zebra brand blue ink fine point is my favorite. I just buy refills each year. They write like a dream.

A Blood Moon is coming on September 7, and over 6.2 billion people will be able to see it! 🌕🧪

This total lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves into Earth’s darkest shadow, causing it to glow red from sunlight refracted through our atmosphere.

Gr 6 ~ Mrs. O’Rourke
We read Anne Frank’s Diary together as a class. I still remember the way she would reread sections & have us discuss it in groups. My group was assigned a discussion about Miep Gies & her role helping the Franks.

Did you also read the book Boris, another WWII story of a boy surviving the Siege of Leningrad? I read it in 5th Grade & it definitely stayed with me. The illustrations were haunting.
Then in 6th Grade we read Anne Frank together as a class. Mrs. O’Rourke was my all-time fav history teacher.

I adored this book. Read it for the first time in 4th Grade. My teacher, Miss Dunn, had it in our classroom library. I chose it for our monthly book report. This was the cover. (There have been different ones.)
Cover of the children’s book, Snow Treasure. Illustration shows a child sledding, past a German soldier in WWII. In the background is another child sledding past another soldier.

Day 1 in the books!
Played my favorite science game, from the old Overnight program at @museumofscience.bsky.social & students did a great job collaborating.
I love my classes! 📚🚍🏫

Hi - I used the MS unit on Natural Selection/Evolution (storyline of “Pedro the Penguin”). It was great, but took a *lot longer* than I had planned for based on the pacing guide. HS might be different.

I just saw multiple examples of this at two airports….in front of massive windows facing the tarmac, full of flights coming and going, baggage and fuel trucks, ground crews directing planes to and from gates. It was all so exciting and interesting (to me).
