Tears do eventually run out; when Oli’s ones stop flowing, he continues to hiccough and shudder. A minute later, he peels away from me. I miss the warmth of his body, but at least I wasn’t the first to let go. We remain standing on our knees, snow dusting the garden, melting on our noses.
