Upstairs: Watching Knives Out in an ENGROSSED theatre that was basically silent because everyone was enjoying it so much.

Downstairs: Christmas party. Incredibly loud Christmas music.

Combined: Quiet suspenseful scenes included All I Want For Christmas Is You.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

I will just say.

The amount of stuff I've bought online to be delivered to my house for Christmas has made this year (chronic pain/disability + an acute injury) as easy as it could be.

Things I’ve Read Recently (193): All MG and YA this time, oddly

Funnily, though, probably because I've been taking pain meds constantly, my back is actually feeling not bad XD

Acute pain when you have chronic pain is weird

2025 Reading Challenge Update July-September
Every year I do a few reading challenges and I like to update my progress on them quarterly. Or at least in theory, I do. This autumn/early winter has been absolute chaos and I didn't really blog in November. It's just been brutal. But I'm so close to being done for this semester. Just a couple more weeks. But I figured we could do an update anyways, before I don't have time to post this at all XD…

Honestly shout out to this used bookseller. The listing said, "Looks unread," and it was not lying. I don't know how a book published in 1997 and absolutely not reprinted looks brand new, but I like it.

Also he wrote a little note on the packing slip. Nice.

Oops. Apologies to the delivery driver who just delivered my package in COMPLETE DARKNESS. I thought it wouldn't be here until tomorrow.

What's that? Could it be?

It's a finished project!

Is it perfect? Nah. But is it pretty cool? Yes.

Do not do this to children. It will probably upset them.

But as an adult, I actually enjoy that if I want something like a Christmas sweater or shirt, I can get it for my birthday on the 13th and have time to wear it before Christmas instead of waiting for year.

I will say, I am still delighted by the child who asked me (very politely) if the sticker on my journal was an "arr-ack" sticker.

By this she meant aroace, but I think I'm calling it arr-ack from now on.

Okay we're all promising not to judge me, right? When I started doing those Book Haul Update posts, I realized I miss doing book haul posts. And then I started this post and realized this is going to be a little embarrassing. So no judging. Also, I'm not putting any library books in these posts because that'd just be silly. But here are all other books I've acquired in this quarter of the year - we'll probably do another one in December if this goes well.
