I haven’t seen it posted anywhere but the half day rate for a voice actor is like $550 and the full day is $1100. So Embark is bailing on this cost line item for something that would run them like $15,000 a year per language.
For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

This is a dense read but it makes a point that’s easy to understand: all the super expensive models OpenAI gives to you for free or at a loss are…probably as expensive to run as it seemed, so much so they are likely fudging their self reported numbers.
Based on analysis of years of revenues, losses and funding, since 2023, OpenAI has taken in $28.6bn in cash and had $13.7bn in losses.
However, reports say OpenAI ended 1H 2025 with $9.6bn in cash - suggesting OpenAI's losses are billions higher than reported.

Considering that I’ve demonstrated LLMs can’t handle any of the subtextual engines in prose, this isn’t surprising, but it remains shocking how not good at it the technology is. The Future!
