Great night @twistedspinebooks.bsky.social with @claymcleod.bsky.social in conversation. We sold out another bookstore of WHY I LOVE HORROR!

The store is amazing and the community Jason & Lauren are building is special.

So at tonight’s book event with Becky Spratford about essay collection WHY I LOVE HORROR, The Brooklyn Chainsaw Massacre’s own Salamiface made an appearance. ONE BRAVE READER ATE MY FACE! Only at The Twisted Spine! Thank you, Jo, for the nibble. @raforall.bsky.social @sagapressbooks.bsky.social

Thank you so very much, Alma and @raforall.bsky.social for the mention in People Magazine!

There are so many wonderful authors mentioned. Please pick up their work.

Alma’s Fiend is available now as is Becky’s Why I Love Horror!
BS: I think a great place to start is with books that grapple with untold parts of our history and address both the terror of those historical situations AND the horror inherent in the fact that these real-life things were hidden from mainstream historical conversations for far too long. Oh, and of course some kind of monster or ghost is added. It's a winning trifecta of fear. Books like The Buffalo Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones, The Reformatory by Tananarive Due, Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas, and everything Cynthia Pelayo writes are a great example of this.

Check out @jennykiefer.com ‘s Bram Stoker Award nominated THIS WRETCHED VALLEY as well. It was a terrifying survival story especially for an urban person! Both from @quirkbooks.bsky.social
