As any parent knows though, TikTok and YouTube content creators were grinding out KPop Demon Hunters and Labubus content this summer/fall — the two feed off each other.
There’s a fundamental flaw in the premise here — “mass culture” is defined as film, TV, music… when in reality culture is downstream of TikTok, YouTube, the internet and there’s no stagnation there

Movies are irrelevant to mass media - but still relevant to commentators

i have a HS friend/acquaintance who serially ends up deciding that guys who are flirting with her are deliberately insulting her intelligence and while she correctly identified that they overestimate their own intelligence she is only able to do so by overestimating her own intelligence

we really are the richest state in the union
This is just a few minutes from my old Congressional office. Local high school has a 97% graduation rate, Netflix is opening a $1B movie studio down the road, and Bruce Springsteen was born and raised around the corner (and still lives there). So yeah…tell me more.

every week there's a new plan for some highway or airport and every one of them is stupid and either they pull the plug after the next national congress or it will all go to shits

i have tried 'do they know it's christmas' and it's weird to sound so cheery while singing what is effectively a modern lyrical equivalent of hard times come again no more

this summer i was staying at a hostel in portland and met a guy named alex from basingstoke who said he dropped out of his uni programme in business to go sell vans bc he realised he wasn't learning much (he's no longer selling vans and was maybe illegally working on US summer camps without a visa)
We see that in course choices, too: often for the worse (to mount my hobby horse, the real scam in HE is the 'business degree' to an undergrad who would be better served just by getting a maths or history degree).

Your Party running a sortition exercise for their founding conference then purging nearly 10% of those selected to attend isn't doing anything to dispell the notion that they're less a political party and more a performance art piece meant to mock the entire concept of left-wing organising
