i feel like it is kind of in the interest of most other countries' political and diplomatic services to pretend that he is. the US press also has delusions of grandeur although they are not totally wrong in that other countries' journalists do actually crib from CNN a lot.

like i find the whole thing anywhere between distasteful and socially corrosive but there are certain things that if you've voluntarily involved yourself in you just have to accept you can't reach back to law enforcement or the judiciary to help you out there
