The trick there was that you had to clear your throat beforehand, otherwise it didn’t count. It surprised me then how long the game could go on even after I got it and thought the jig was up.

And I remember a party where we played a version introduced by a French lady, where someone did an action like clap their hands in a certain rhythm and people had to volunteer to try to follow it, and then the ”judges” said whether they did it right or not.

I don’t know the name for this genre, but we used to play a few when I was a kid, especially during summer on the beach. In the one I remember best you announced ”I can travel to [X place] ’på egen hand’” which is Swedish for ’on my own’ but literally means ’on my own hand’” …

Yeah, I'm firmly in the camp that antagonistic models of GM-player dynamics are usually detrimental.
But yet!
I *love* that sort of "oh no, I rolled a crit failure, the GM's really gonna mess me up" kayfabe stuff.
