One of my favorite game developer stories came from an E3 oral history that described the reveal of the Kinect at E3 2010. Microsoft invited Itagaki to the event and after he saw this massive, gaudy display for the reveal, he turned on his heel and walked out. Legend.

Aside from the mental illness element of people believing in such a thing, it also shows how completely desperate these people are to believe in a magic bed that will cure them without a thought about if such treatments could even exist outside this thing. It’s purely childlike in every way.

Pretty wild to just sit before Congress as the head of a law enforcement agency and not know about one of the most polarizing mass shooters in recent history. If not feigned ignorance, then it is also very revealing just how inept a man in charge of federal investigations truly is.
