To be clear, this is just as bad as the Amazon AI dub thing. Not as much to meme about, but definitely just as bad. Remember when YouTube switched over to AI closed captions, removed the options for creators to provide their own, and then they all got immediately worse forever? This is like that.
After publishing this article, I've heard from many that CR seems to be using AI to produce dub CCs. Now, thanks to a slip-up CR had with episode 6 dub of The Banished Court Magician, we can say that with 100% certainty: Crunchyroll is using the AI service Ollang.com for its dub closed captions!

Funny coincidence that the next doctor I tried was a woman my age and she was friendly and polite and unfazed by my medical decisions and simply refilled my prescriptions with no fuss. Because of wokeness now of days you have to go see a woman if you want to be spoken to like an adult person
Took my first swing at finding a GP since my move and got an old guy who was very upset that I wanted to wear a mask inside a doctor’s office because I’m immunocompromised and kept asking me to take it off. This area is retiree city so I think I frightened and disgusted him Allahu akbar

"Death of the Author" doesn't mean separating the author's bad behaviour from their art. It means taking away their authority and allowing readers to interpret the art based on their own perspectives. It doesn't absolve the author of being a bastard, in fact it may inform how you interpret the art.
