Screenwriter and producer. Defender of democracy. Mom of two.
LOVE ALWAYS WINS.
-5°F in Minneapolis tonight.

At the site where feds killed Alex Pretti, the air still smells faintly of tear gas. Hundreds of people still here behind some impromptu barricades.

Message spray painted on the road reads, "fuck ICE, love always wins."

Let me just say it again: he can’t cancel the midterms. Elections are administered by states.

He can’t do it. Stop telling people he can do it.

Telling people their votes don’t matter based on absolutely false fantasizing by the demented sociopath is doing the work of voter suppression for him.

So I didn’t have “war with Europe over Greenland” on any bingo card because it is absolutely bonkers insane.

Perhaps, in all this darkness/oppression, the world could somehow find itself experiencing not an autocratic ascent but "a new birth of freedom;" and "that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth" but rise while autocrats stumble and fall. Imagine.
And despite it all, this is Tehran 🇮🇷

Honestly at this point I cannot say which is more likely: him getting impeached and actually removed from office, or the US going to war with Europe over Greenland.

Gonna need eyes on SIDESHOW soon. Just putting feelers out there.

Current LL:

A miraculous headless chicken turns a dirt-poor farmer into a sideshow sensation, but when fame and fortune slip away, he must decide how far he’ll go to stay in the spotlight, and what he’s willing to lose.

Grandma was watching the news about the ICE shooting that happened today.
Grandma: “What does ICE stand for?”
Me: “Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They—”
Grandma: “Oh, so they’re Nazis.”

If Holocaust survivors can tell, so should everyone else.
Grandma showed me something from her childhood the other day.

Me, upon waking my husband: Good morning! We are at war with Venezuela. Well, maybe “war” isn’t the right word for it. We just bombed the capital and kidnapped the president.

It sounds insane because it IS insane.

Before we moved most of our town offices (to the site of an abandoned mental institution), our town hall was also home to a second-run movie theater. (It’s still a movie theater, it’s just not functioning as town hall anymore.)

Someone got my credit card information and used it to buy themselves $300 gift cards each to West Elm and Quince. But they were nice enough to send the receipts to my email so I was alerted right away.

West Elm canceled the gift card immediately. Quince is still reviewing.

Consider this your annual reminder that it’s bad luck to do laundry on New Year’s Day. You can thank me later.

Post a random fact about yourself.

I was a TV news reporter and anchor in Duluth, Minnesota from the end of 2003 to mid-2005.
Post a random fact about yourself.

I interned in the Licensing Dept at Marvel Comics my senior year in college, before Spider-Man or X-Men hit theaters. Got to see a very early cut of the Spider-Man trailer.

I was a child actor for about 2.5 seconds (real world time: about 2 years) in the early 90s.

Honestly, my biggest accomplishment in 2025 was surviving it. The wins are small this year but:

- Joined an AMAZING writing group

- Got great notes on a thriller feature (that I have yet to implement)

- Started ghost writing a children’s book

- Producers are making talent offers on my script
-Wrote a horror comedy feature

-Wrote an It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia spec script

-Wrote an original half-hour satirical pilot + series bible

-Started a heist comedy/horror feature

-Started a 1-hour procedural pilot based on my mystery novels

- Signed with a manager

- Had some incredible meetings with people in the industry

- Wrote 4 short scripts in ~8 hours on my Birthday

- Finished 3 feature scripts

- Read a staggering amount of incredible scripts

- Have a lot set up on the horizon for 2026

Bring on the New Year
