This is how I plan to roll into the office tomorrow.

Went out with friends and bowled for the first time in ages today. I already can tell I won't be able to move my arm tomorrow. This is very rude, and I do not appreciate my body pointing out how lazy I typically am.

That moment when you think something is an anachronism in your media but it turns out you didn't know how long it's actually been around. Cliffs Notes are the Tiffany of #StrangerThings.

Erica is savage, and I missed her so much. #StrangerThings

Okay, I will preface this with the GIGANTIC disclaimer that I promise I know how this looks, and I *swear* this is not personally motivated: If you have an old #LiveJournal account, and it has things you still care about in it, download it or import it to Dreamwidth SOON. Details:

During the most recent shutdown, I used a permanent but then-untended pit toilet on a mountain lit only by a little window high in the cinderblock wall. Grew up camping with family, and I've used many a bathhouse infested with spiders, mosquitoes, mayflies, and every NAmerican insect imaginable.
Y’all ever walk into a public restroom and immediately whisper “Jesus Christ”

The cat had to have masses removed from his abdomen today. They gave him a tummy tuck while they were at it as the masses were all in his pooch. He's an old man who suddenly looks as svelte as a teenage man-cat. And, more importantly, full removal with clean margins.

This week is about learning ways to cope with the hard things we do in this world, and, after hours of flying, I started it sitting on a hotel balcony in the sun reading Kills Well With Others. Thank you, @deannaraybourn.bsky.social, for these women who cope with the hard things.

Please share this. My mother has been missing since December 7th. She has severe dementia and we are just praying that she is found safely.

I mean, that really seems the safest bet these days...
All our animals escaped into society but they came back and pulled the cage doors behind them.

Diego Pavia asking for a Presidential executive order expanding the college football playoffs to 16 teams is clear proof not everyone attends Vandy for the education.

Just watched my cat peer at me over the arm of the couch from the end table covered in Gloomhaven and Frosthaven map pieces and then slide from view as the pieces slipped onto the floor under his weight, taking him with them. He is now grooming himself to prove just how unbothered he is.

Watching a Discovery docuseries on natural disasters, this one covering the tornadoes in December 2021 that hit Arkansas/Tennessee/Kentucky/Indiana and again grateful to have been away from home that night. A lifetime of tornado drills and warnings still doesn't prepare you for a direct hit.

I quite like this idea!
A little thing that works for me, maybe it can work for you, is that Black Friday week is also "Focused Unsubscribing Week". EVERY company that ever got you on their mailing list will send an email this week. Make an intention as you enter the week to unsub, not just ignore, to anyone you're over.

Not my teenager waking up from a dead sleep in the backseat to groggily ask what sounded like, "Where's my old... animal... stuffs?" And then being unable to clarify beyond emphatically repeating, "I don't know!" with broad hand gestures before I suggested going back to sleep. 🤣🤣🤣

If I had these feelings, you wouldn't even be able to waterboard them out of me. Yet here this man is, just posting it publicly with his whole chest. I cannot even.

Why do we have to eat food daily, and why do I therefore have to make a menu and grocery list every week? Who has the energy for this?

I do love a good haunting.
Look, about the ghost.

We haven't actually registered an apparition / cold spot / odd noise in this house.

(Unless you count a few customers asking the name of the white cat. Our cats are orange and tortoiseshell...?)

So we usually disappoint ghost hunters.

That said...

Her name is Claire.

When you wake up at 4am and can't go back to sleep, what else can you do but settle in with @tkingfisher.com's A Sorceress Comes to Call? The library delivered my virtual hold at just the right time.

All I can think upon seeing this is how ITCHY it would be to have all those little feathery bits brushing against your skin. I would come unglued.

4am on the day I can sleep in because I only have to go to work for an hour today, and the batteries die in the smoke detector. Now I'm wide awake.
