Halifax city council is thinking about cancelling about a dozen bike lane builds this year to save the same amount of money as paving 625m of car lane costs.
As many cities get smarter at evidence-based city-building, positioning themselves for greater success in every way we can count, and many ways we can’t, some cities seem obsessed with self-sabotage. Case-in-point: city “leaders” arguing for the removal of safe bike infrastructure. #OwnGoal

For decades, more sustainable & responsible cities haven’t just been possible — they’ve been common sense, logical, & ridiculously obvious! And yet we’ve failed to act, for many reasons, including that we’ve let ourselves be lied to.

A better future thru better cities is STILL possible. #Leadership

An intense storm is bringing snow to the Carolinas coast. This storm passes just south of Sable Is overnight then south of NL Monday. Heavy snow & strong winds (outages?) over mostly the Ern half of NS tonight & early Monday. Halifax on the edge (pics); prepare for the worst but hope for the best.

Today along the waterfront in Halifax we saw a very full moon and a bunch of curious otters. I wasn’t quick enough to get the otter above water, but I still think this picture is pretty cool!
