Link peers into a dark cave through a broken wall. Within the shadowed room, flame-bearing statues shaped like hunched and smiling demons flank a dark pool. As Link approaches the pool, a large, broken statue of a headless fairy holding a triangular prism looms into view above the pool, strangled by creeping roots. The background of the comic behind the panels gradually darkens from white to black. Suddenly, out of the darkness, a voice speaks. "Hello there." Link, startled, starts to draw the Master Sword over his shoulder, exposing the reddish-orange glow of its blade.

Somewhere, in the Deep reaches of space, an assembly has gathered on a space station. During a heated discussion on the design and capabilities of mecha, Isamu Kurogane (Lance) stands tall and dares to speak the truth. "Every Gundam is worse than Voltron because his hands are lion mouths!!!" he declares without shame. His bravado has impressed the Red Comet, Char Aznable, while confusing and insulting Amuro Ray. The delaration is heard to mixed reactions by many other mecha pilots (not by Shinji Ikari, he is doing his best to ignore him).

The Great Fairy looms large in the darkness that swallows up the room around him, her pleased smile fading into the shadows. "But... I would much prefer seeing you wield it, my honest hero," she says. Link looks over his shoulder to sheathe his refined Master Sword behind him, with its golden glow illuminating his face. In his right hand, still gripping the shield, the silver arrows also glow at his side. The torches held by the monstrous statues suddenly flare back to light with an audible "fwoosh", illuminating a now-still and empty spring, much to Link's surprise. There's no sight of the Great Fairy in the chamber, nor her smoke, just the broken fairy statue standing vigil over her waters. Only her voice remains, echoing. "You too, will see your desires realized," she reassures. For a moment, Link gazes upwards quietly with a look of gentle awe, then turns to leave, giving one last glance over his shoulder with a faint smile towards the spring. Her voice rings out one last time from the rippling spring waters, as Link's silhouette darkens the triangle-shaped hole in the pyramid wall that he entered from, sword glowing as brightly as the light pouring in from outside. "Defeat him, so we both may emerge from this realm... changed and free."
